Thanks a lot ladies. Pay is in and I've transfered £200 to Mums account. Had a realisation last night. This pay only needs to last 3 weeks while the next one, which I get on the 23rd of December needs to last 5 and a half. Therefore it makes total sense to save a weeks money and have it to last through the dark days of Jan. Going for £60 grocery spends this month which gives me a whopping £20 a week for the next 3 weeks. Will definetely manage that and will stock up a bit for Jan too.
Snow has fallen Lula but I'm okay as I'm so close to work. I'll just shuffle along in my coat and trainers AGAIN. Not loving it but hoping to get finished early today and get some food shopping done. I'll keep you posted.... keep warm and safe all X'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
The early paydays before Christmas always seem so wonderful when they arrive - but we tend to forget just how looooong that money has to last!!!
So, YES, put some away if you can - get ahead of the game and you will start 2011 in a far better position than most!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi Hypno, yes I will! Got plenty this month without the extra £100 anyway. NEVER use that money for xtra Xmas pressies these days anyway, last time I did that was in the dark days before I discovered MSE.

I am proud to say that I have all my Xmas shopping done (apart from my sisters which I am waiting on someone else to put money to) so all my December pay is for social stuff. This is why I do it all with my November pay. That and the fact that I get flustered shopping when it's too busy and want to attack my fellow shoppers!!!
Had a spendy day today:
£12 on toiletries (needed and will last the month)
£20 on a new dress for work - try to buy something every month to encourage staff/promote products. Also easy in the mornings and really does look very glam
£29 on wellies!!!!!!!! I know but they were sold out all over town and these are black and really quite smart. Plus they will last for ever.
£14 on Yo Sushi lunch - was cold and fed up sliding around weaing a coat and trainers by this point so I removed my gutties(trainers) before entering the historic and stylish House Of Fraser where Yo Sushi lives and had a lovely lunch to myself. Pricey but should have been going for tea tonight which I can't as my friend is snowed in so had the cash anyway. Put my trainers back on at the door and slid off to get wellies from here.
£2.99 for a piping set for my cupcakes
£17.19 on groceries including a ham hough and piece of lamb from the butchers, olive oil and lots of veg from Aldi and sweeteners from Tesco.
Total spend today £95.18 :eek::eek::eek:
After that I have decided that the welly and dress spend should be shared with the next 2 weeks of the month meaning I now have just over £80 each week for spends left.
I have also reallocated £10 from my grocery budget to cover toiletries so now have £32.21 left for my groceries this month. NAE BOTHER.
(For those who are new I am pretty much a cash only lady and lift cash each week for my spends. I also have a seperate cash purse for grocery spends. This does not include cleaning stuff or toiletries or food when I am entertaining, but just food for me. I have no CC's, just a debit card.)
DT is coming up for a styling sesh this weekend and will be paying me but I am not going to count this money as it is 'extra' to budget and I kind of have plans for it anyway.'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
The sushi lunch sounds lovely, as do the expensive wellies. They are an investment though, useful on wet days too, I often wear mine with dresses on wet days.Total debt 11/1/2011 €5350.65Total debt 12/12/12 €3222.31CrazyClothesChallenge 2013 #006 €34.08/€5000

Hiya loveley,
great news on the money & yay to fab new wellies. I cant bear trainers except for running or gym but I invested in fab pair of Animal wellies while back for about £24 & I dont regret it one bit. Apart from being very colourful with a large pink & black azalea pattern on them they are lined, have a thick cushioned insole & dont flap around my legs. I love them
My payday is the last working day of the month, every month, with no exceptions for December & I'm actually grateful, I just carry on as normal & only now do I wish I'd saved up a bit more cash.
I feel rather left out of all the snow talk; we have a very light dusting of something white but it's almost transparent it's that thin. It appears that Lulaville at Jct 10.5 has its own microclimate :think:0 -
Love it!!!!'The road to a friends house is never long'0

Ladies I can honestly say that this is the only time I don't wear a heel but it's a !!!!!!!g blizzard out there. I am wearing a lovley frock and nice jewelerry if that makes you feel better. Bro works in town too so he's going to meet me after work tomorrow for a cheap Chinese and a few drinks. GAGGING for a pint!
Sitting researching stuff for DT's visit. I think I may have surprises for her in terms of what will work. Very excited!
Going to start a new diary at the end of the month and also come up with some new plans to help me achieve some more goals.'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Had a lovely dinner with brother and a wee bottle of wine too.
Also organised myself for New year. My friend from Edinburgh is coming through and I am going to buy myself some retro DVD's for Xmas so we can chill, watch these and eat/drink loads. Good plan!
One more day at work then off for the weekend and got DT up. Meeting a friend for dinner tomorrow night. Haven't seen her in ages but really looking forward to it. Meeting another friend on Sunday after DT gets her train so busy weekend all round. X'The road to a friends house is never long'0
