Sort of... The times you are available to sign have to match the times on your agreement so you state you are currently available to work between ... and .... these are the times you would be required to attend and be available. You can carry on looking at jobs to work whatever times you want to work. That way no decision maker will ever be able to disallow you claim. Lone parents, or people with parental responsibility only have to be available for 16 hours per week so we set their agreement at this, if they choose to take a job at 20 hours, up to them.
This fits the rules, you are doing nothing wrong. Does this make sense.

Yes but that does not still quite fit my situation, if i am reading it correctly. I guess i will have to explain it to someone at the JC tomorrow and see what they say.

But it does, your present circumstances dictate that you are available between school hours as you have no childcare. If a job you accepted was full then you would arrange childcare. They will be closed till tuesday now. :xmassmile

Have a good christmas, they will sort it out for you.

Surely the cc and loan companies will be receiving the payments, not the OP? And I can understand the frustration that people have assumed that the pre and after school care is free.

FWIW central Shanklin to the JCP can take 10 minutes if you're lucky or it can take 40 for no apparent reason, the job centre is on the one way system and there is no easy parking nearby.

Yes, but it is still income as it is money that would have to be found elsewhere if not paid by the insurance. I never stated that after school care is free, but I think it is worth paying for on one occasion if it means that OP can continue to sign on. I also suggested alternative means of making the appt on time. ;)
    Gone ... or have I?

But as dooker said he/she reckons if i speak to someone else i can change my agreement to stipulate i am not avaliable at certain times because of my children. Weather this relates to the new rules or not i am not sure. I will go into the JC and speak to someone more senior tomorrow.

Just to clarify, I meant you can restrict your pattern of availability, not that you can restrict the times you are available to provide a signed declaration within your pattern.

Busy Mom is pretty much spot on in what she says.

Because your comments are not constructive, look at your comments above. You say i should pay for one occasion, but if you read and understood my older posts it's not the ONE that is the problem, it is the fact the times will soon alternate and may continually clash with the times the kids start/finish school. So going by what you say if the times fell continually on the school times you would think it fair for me to pay £21 every other week to put them into care just so i can sign on. You really do not understand. As for the insurance you are saying that i should spend that on childcare, the whole point of having this insurance is that it relieves me of the burden while unemployed of finding the money to pay these off. Hmmm ya ok so i'll spend the money they are paying the cards off with, when that runs out not only will my cards still be at their limit, i'd then have to make those payments and ontop of that i would have to pay the childcare to sign on.... Hmm ya ok

So i can then tell the JC that i am FULLY felxibile with regard to my work times. I mean i can a workfulltime job, the times arn't a problem as they would go into care. But i can state to them that while i am unemployed i am NOT fully flexibile with regard to the times i can sign on because i have to pick my kids up from school and they would accept this and make the necessary adjustments to my sign on times(even with the new rules) .?

Honestly, I think you're trying to overcomplicate it.

Just tell them you can work between 9.30-2pm and so you'll get all your appointments between these times. Get them to update your agreement to these times so it's all in order.

Obviously you still apply for whatever you want full time/shift and day you can etc - all they want is to tick the boxes and make sure you're still actively looking for work.

Er.... No, they are not being irrational actually, and I have yet to see you post any thing constructive on this thread.

aj2703 started this thread to find out a solution to his childcare problem. It now appears that he has a solution to his problem.
That solution was provided by a supportive member of the forum, who knew what they were talking about and had personal experience of the system.

You on the other hand, are a rude, ignorant and frankly objectionable piece of work, and I cannot fathom why you are even posting.

P.S. All the best aj2703, and I hope you get this sorted out soon.

Thankyou. And yeah i am sure it will work out ok, these things tend to. Fingers crossed:D

    It's really not that simple

OK, so if that can be done great, but in saying that i will have to have a look through my insurance claim forms just to double check that it dosen't state i have to be looking for fulltime work. If it does that may not be an option because the benefits advisor would be obliged to put on the form i am not looking for fulltime work if it is what is on their system. (I think):D.
