Hi
Finished work yesterday for Xmas and Sainsburys delivery has been so am all sorted:j
Freezing here and all full of snow so OH not been able to work as cannot get his van out so its not good news for money but we will survive;)
Have ironing to catch up on today and all else done:T
DS going to his dads at teatime till lunch on Xmas day. OH and I have a day to chill on Xmas eve this year( would rather have DS here but what can you do)
I too hate going out on New years eve and never do it....infact I hate going out at all am so unsociable:rotfl::o
D&DD how lovely to hear from you:D, glad all is well, I often wonder if you are ok. Hope you and yours have a great Xmas:T0 -
Morning all
Well, I'm going to be stuck in the immunofluorescence room for another three hoursIt's dark in here :rotfl: :rotfl: but warm
but then I'm free! I am the only one in the building at the moment (now there's a suprise!). I am running virus checks on all the lab computers, having had sevral flashing boxes on teh screen yesterday. Honestly - it's supposed to do all this itself. :rolleyes:
I have to pop out and do some shopping in a bit - I have two presents left to buyI tried yesterday but it was absolute hell. Today isn't going to be much better I know,but Ihave to do it. I need some for on kitchen gadget for my other sister and something for a two year old boy. I have no idea - I have some books, but we don't have a toy shop in the town and boots have a dredaful selection. Oh and I need to get some chocolate.
Tesco direct finally refunded the money after failing to deliver a computer. It only took two week and numerous phone calls. I am not happy, but at least it's done now. I have to phone the HMRC today; I guess they will still be working today. the to-do list never ends. I have to fit Christmas in at some point.:rotfl::rotfl:
Car hire is sorted out - still don't fancy the drive as it's really icy
OH asked his solicitor to send a letter requesting that his ex backs off - but his solicitor said not to as it has nothing to do with his divorceAll it has to be is a nice letter asking politely that any contact is done in writing and to stop phoning him at work, calling his parents and turning up his work. He's really upset. I suggested he wrote back as asked again - and asked if he didn't want to do it, whether he could check a draft that OH could simply send personally - just to create a paper trail - he's asked her face to face before, so a letter would be the next step. His solicitor has been very reluctant to do things in case they accrue costs - he has always paid everything on time but I do I understand them not wanting to cause costs for the other side.
Oswise I have done nothing other than the laundry and hoovered the flat. I couldn't be bothered to cook last night as OH had eaten what I intended to cook - which automatically promotes a "whatever-do-it-yourself" response.I have packed to go home though, which is something
have a good day all, cel x

Woohoo, I ordered a Kenwood food slicer & it arrived this morning, hubby is happy a a pig in the proverbial as he has wanted one for ages. I purchased it with some vouchers so in effect it was free & I'm hoping it will make any meat I cook go futher & also make for tidier slices of bread. I just hope he maneges not to take the ends of his fingers off.
Hugs Hester

Last minute pressie I ordered for DD to give her sister arrived this morning- phew!!!
Lovely to see Diva back:j
DD (24) was supposed to arrive in leeds at 1.30 but her train was cancelled at the last minute so we will be driving to Doncaster to pick her up instead.
DH fussing over me saying not to get cold, slip, etc. etc and maybe I should stay at home. Pointed out the stress of not going would not be good for me so he backed down on the overprotectiveness.;)
Still have presents to wrap and a scarf to finish knitting but can do that tonight.
Diva
Is there no way the dentists can give you emergency antibiotics or something?
Hugs to all and see you later - looks like a two hour round trip this afternoon."This site is addictive!"

Afternoon all; been MIA for a couple of days, so am behind with the thread. So, Congrats where they're due, and ((((HUGS)))) for those not having such a good time just now.
We had our Solstice celebration on Monday - outside on the patio, drinking Sea Breezes at sunrise, and the day got even better from there on in.:rotfl:
I've had a lovely bouquet from the local CAMRA branch, as a "thank you" for the work I do, checking for planning apps on pubs, maintaining the Beer Score database and so forth.
So not much OS going on, but I thought you might enjoy the following:
CHRISTMAS RUSH
So you've wrapped up all your presents
And written all your cards,
Put holly round the lampshades,
And tinsel, by the yard;
Put on your silly paper hat
That made you look a twit;
Put your turkey in the oven
And found it wouldn't fit;
Made your Christmas pud in secret,
With no-one there to look -
A drop of brandy for the pud,
A tumbler for the cook;
Put lametta on the cheeseplant
Instead of on the tree;
Thought you'd five more shopping days,
But found you'd only three;
Survived the office party
To which you had to go,
Then running for the last bus home
Fell over in the snow;
Hung up you Christmas stocking,
Wished your friends good cheer -
That's all the preparations made -
Let's sleep until New Year!!If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Well... I am now officially self employed; the HMRC were great
I also phoned the exam board and sorted out my missing letter too
It's nice phoning non-retail companies at this time of year - they answer the phone and you don't have to queue :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Nearly finished at work... nearly :rolleyes::staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Fudge made, more stuffing balls & pigs in blankets made & frozen ready for DD, Bread in the oven, turkey will go in once bread is cooked, need to prep some spuds for her & prep the veg. Will also make some twinks & a lemoncurd cake, if I can find the recipe, it's on here somewhere.
Hugs Hester

Afternoon all.
Another busy day today, but got most of what I wanted, done.
Need to make sausage rolls at some point today with DDs. Fruit crumble is about ready to come out of the oven and I need to have a look to see what sort of potato salad I can make with new potatoes
Any ideas will be welcome
I thought about a tomato based salad, or perhaps a potato and chives type salad. I'm sure I will find something searching through the threads on here
DDs are out for the day, so I will be very pleased when they get back home. I don't like them travelling when the weather's bad, and there's ice on the roads
We have family visiting tomorrow, so I've been tidying around as much as I can. I'm quite achey now, but keeping everything crossed that it wont lead onto anything major - at least until christmas has passed
Hope you're all having a good day so far.
