I know you didn't ask but it's never stopped me before
I personally think children should just be taught a healthy attitude to food and eat what the parents eat (assuming the parents eat properly!) so if both veggie then baby is too but if when child is older they ask to try meat they should be allowed.
I don't know any couples were both are veggie so usually its the meat eater that makes/feeds the baby meat.
I do know of 2 seperate girls who's parents were very strict about no sweets/all wholesome food etc and both are the first pigging out on crap whenever out of sight of parents
All input welcome Sami!
OH is not veggie (actually neither am I, I just don't eat meat. I do eat fish occasionally though). However OH doesn't cook, and if left to his own devices would just survive on cereal..... I think it will probably pan out that LO eats veggie at home and at my Mum's (she's veggie) but has meat at the in-laws and possibly if eating out until he is old enough to choose.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -

I normally did a batch every 2 weeks if that helps
aw thanks scruffy.
that way i can do a batch for him at the same time i do my veg.
am looking forward to it all now. was dreading it last week but i've read quite a few different articles etc online i'm feeling a lot more positive. just need to go to library (hopefully tomoz) and pick up 1 or 2 books i'm interested in reading more.
best do a 'weaning' shopping list for when we get paid at end of month so we're all prepared.
think i'll be increasing Kian's bottles to 8oz as he's finished 2 7oz today and looked for a bit more. rather increase his milk to the max i'm meant to before we start weaning.'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -

If you tell them that you are not going to 'do' mush and jars, you are just going to let baby eat what they want of what you are eating then you will be met with lots of approval about 'doing it the old fashioned way'
I have lost count of the number of times I have been congratulated in cafes etc or by relatives for 'having a bit of good old fashioned common sense' :rotfl::rotfl:
actually I know why she is proud of my BFing but not sure why she loves the BLW so much?0 -

We gave upI found it too stressful, trying to get him to stay latched when he was screaming hungry. So we decided that it was more important that he gets breastmilk, and the method was less important. I'm now an exclusive pumper! I'm not sure of the long-term plan, I'd like to continue pumping for as long as possible. But I have a horrible suspicion that the paediatrician is going to tell us to put Andrew on half formula (NutriPrem2) to aid his slow weight gain.

That's what we do! I have a blender that I use for smoothies anyway, and two silicon ice-cube trays. So far I've done two trays of apple, two of carrot, and one of broccoli. All now in bags in the bottom of the freezer! I'm currently defrosting two cubes (they're small) for Andrew for each meal - but he ate all the carrot today, so I might increase that to three cubes.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

but do both yours eat meat?
I don't eat meat, and don't particularly like the idea of Henry eating meat when he weans, but then I think if he doesn't, does that mean that it would cause him problems if he did choose to eat meat when he is older? Does that even make any sense?
Yes, they both eat meat. I did toy with the idea of them being veggie but decided to let them choose when they are older (just like I did when I realised roast lamb was an actual lamb!). And DH wasn't too keen on the idea, so he cooks all the meat dishes (and mine too!
).

ELLE- hurry up and tell us how you got on!!!!'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
sorry sami didn't mean to worry you:o
DH says that it would only really present any issue if they hadn't emergedby 6, and even then can be helped. Just that the adult teeth follow the pathway down the root of the baby teeth, so if lots of baby teeth are missing or have had to be removed due to decay, sometimes the adult ones don't emerge in the exact right place. He thinks 2 missing wouldn't cause hardly any displacement.
Hope that's reassuring

Thanks SB!
I guess part of my issue is that I don't feel commercially reared/farmed meat is particularly healthy but I don't have a huge issue with him having it occasionally. I don't think I could cook meat at home though (except sausage rolls which I cooke when me Grandad comes round as it's one of the few things he eats but that's really just heating up :rotfl:).
Sami- that recipe definitely works, in fact I might make some for brekky tomorrow!
