Can i be a pain (again) and ask anyone who had to have bp controlled during late pregnancy can you remind me how the last few weeks went and how the birth was - i am on the pregnancy thread - thank you very much. I am borderline pre-eclampsia and on labatelol and mw monitoring after coming home from hosp over christmas. Thank you very much
Cant believe i might be joining you guys in about a week's time:j
With DS1 I was induced at 35 weeks after having been in hospital with PE from 33 weeks. He was in SCBU for 1 week then on ward with me for another week, he had bad jaundice and. We were both discharged when he was 2 weeks old.
DS2 was different, but it was an extreme case and I won't go into it.
With Amber I was on labitalol again, BP stayed ok (never went above 160/100), was sectioned at 37 weeks because I had gestational diabetes as well as my history. She was SCBU for a week with low blood sugars from my GD BUT, labitalol can cause low blood sugar levels in baby for a few days, so do be prepared that they may need to spend some time in SCBU (in mild cases just a day or so). If you are planning on BF hvae a think about how you would feel about giving baby a formula top up if his sugars or tempoerature drops (low temp is the first sign of low sugars). Jaundice seems to be linked to either the BP or labitalol also.
It's scary, I had a bad case with the boys so I'm more the worst outlook, but many people manage to get to full term, a little help before, during and after the birth and they all recover very quickly. You will be looking at a possible induction or section if things get bad, closely monitered during labour and you will be kept in a few days afterwards because things can get worse after the birth (with DD I had a post natal PE scare and had to go back on medication). You will probably need to stay on medication for a time after the birth depending on how quikly your BP goes back down. Can be 48 hours, can be a few months.
Stop anything you don't have to be doing, rest with your feet up or lying down as much as you can, have a few short strolls, cut way down on your cafeine and sugar and basically prepare for baby to arrive at any time. I kept money aside to send someone out to get tiny baby sleepsuits just in case.0 -

Isn't it too late to cancel a DD? Nationwide says it must be cancelled before 6pm the day before it's due to be paid0

jha, I had high BP and seemed to spend most of my pregnancies being monitored but never prescribed medication.
Best of luck with the birth and see you over here soon!

Hi all, not read back much, but caught your question SM. It is possible (although highly unlikely) that the DD can still be paid on New Years day as DDs are requested 3 days before they are paid and can be in the system tomorrow night and leave your account on Friday but most companies wont do that. I know a lot of my DDs come out on the next banking day rather than the day before so it might not come out, but you should always be prepared for 3 days either side of the date given as they are legally allowed to request funds 3 days either sideThe two best things I have done with my life
