I've just looked at the criteria - do you think this passes?

Ater working out my maternity leave and maternity leave, my date of return to
work should be 9th April 2010. However, this is a Friday and I would like to put
in a day of annual leave for that day, meaning I would return on Monday 12th
    April.

Whilst writing I would also like to ask if it's possible to change my hours
slightly. I currently work Monday to Friday 9.30-2pm. I would like to change
this to work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9.30-2.30pm. This would alter
my contracted hours from 22.5 to 20 hours per week. I would like to do this
primarily to give me a day off in the week to do things with the children.

I'd appreciate it if you could get back to me as soon as you are able with
regards to this as I need to let my childminder know my plans in order that she
can then arrange care for others too.

I'd written the email before I knew the correct things to mention :o

Wow bruno last few molars eh? I have a funny household of teeth at the moment. I have one growing them, one losing them and one that has teeth that aren't growing!! Cue orthadontist visit in Feb:)

I have never swan nudey and would never, ever do it either. When we were on holiday abroad dh suggested I go topless as 'other women were'I just told him if he needed to look at knockers look at theirs cos mine were staying wel and truly hidden...but added if he did stare at them we would (from that point on) be having a very unenjoyable holiday:o

    How is E sleeping now?

Yeah, it's almost all there, just missing the bit about how your new working pattern would affect the company and how you could overcome it. Depending on the job, that might be quite obviously anyway :) Stick another line in your follow up email to say "If you would like to discuss the effects my request will have on the business and how these can be overcome, I am happy to attend a meeting in the near future" or something like that, then you've offered. Other than her being awkward (which isn't a business reason!), is there any reason why they might reject the idea?

Mel, Chris was farward facing from about 4mths because he had to be and I didn't know the benefits of PF I don't think it has done him any harm, he is very loving and friendly/out going too:D Ed has never been parent facing because he couldn't be either but I do have him in the sling to have mummy time too.
anyway my point is PF is more of a want than a need :)

Jennynoo - Do you not worry about not getting your LO into their own bed. My friend had her little girl in with her and had an absolute nightmare getting her into her own room/bed she was 7yrs old before she manged it fully and even then she would wake up and cry in the night.... I am not meaning to put you (or anyone else) off doing it, but just wondered if you had thought about when and how you will make the transfer.
I am the opposite you see, my kids are not even allowed in my room, never mind my bed and with the exception of ds2(who was a very clingy baby day or night) they have all been great sleepers from a young age. If they are ill or restless at night I go to them, never bring them to me....I think that may sound harsh to some people but it works for us and means me and dh get our own space to do 'couple things;)' (although given that we are on baby 4 maybe we should think about co-sleeping:p)

I'm trying not to worry! I read Dr Sears and 'Three in a bed' and several other attachment parenting books and they all say that with the support you give LO's when they are little it makes them more confident to be independent and they go to their own room when they are ready -usually before 2 years old (hopefully sooner!) My sister did co-sleeping and her son is now sleeping fine in his own room at 8 months old so it worked for her. We have a double bed with co-sleeping cot at the side but most of the time Erin is in cuddled up with me and doesn't bother OH at all - she doesn't cry when she wants feeding, we both (me and Erin) just seem to wake up and I put her on.

One point to note is Dr Sears recommends that whatever you do, do it consistently. ie dont take them to your bed only when they are ill or they will fake illness to get in your bed.

maddogwoman what is the rapid return technique?

Note: I think what I have said is correct although you might be best checking with Dr Sears books as I tend to have a selective memory!

Does anyone have one of these birth to toddler chairs, wee man can escape his bouncy chair now but it's very useful to have wondering if I should get one.

We have a Bumbo but like MFD said about Benjamin, Jack arches his back after awhile and tries to escape it! He has a very short attention span so won't stay in anything for more than about 10minutes - he gets rotated from bouncy chair to bumbo to jumperoo to bouncer to activity mat to playnest :o I'm running out of room for all this stuff.

How old is LO? Would you pop it in your signature for me please. I always forget these things :)
Incidentally... I'm considering getting a poundshop pee stick next week...

Rationally, we've been very safe, and I don't think I am... But I had 1 AF in December and at the beginning of Jan I (tmi warning) had a lot of mucus and lost 2 blood clots but nothing else... I've had loads of period pain on and off since...

    I dunno...

Get me one while your there :o

Where is MM tonight? I know she was Jas free but couldnt remember what else she was doing!
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Where does the time go?

Well no not really, Ive already spoken to the other ladies I work with. I work on an Obs and Gynae ward but am clerical. There's been a bit of shuffling about with people but basically, from when I started on there we now have an extra admin assistant for 20 hours per week. I've spoken to her about which days she works, and between us both it would be fine and the work would get done. I mentioned this to my boss as I had already mentioned changing my hours when I spoke to her before Christmas. The main days are Monday and Tuesday to file up the notes of discharged patients, then Thursday and Friday to collect notes ready for the next weeks' patients.
