Oooh, I'm jealous!
Hard to tell from the few glimpses I've had of the meedja coverage whether it was all just a bit of hype over a few isolated falls- but no, looks like it was everywhere except the SW..... as usual
p!ss!n it down here today...
Have you not had the ice?
I'm still stranded and don't look like I will get out today. Same on Monday.
It's just literally a half a cm thick crust of smooth, shining ice everywhere. Some women has even had to deliver her baby at home, emergency services couldn't reach her.lostinrates wrote: »TBF, its highly likely I'm wrong and he's iced in, not snowed in.
I wish it was snow! Least you can see it!0 -

Yes, thats what we have too, lethal ice, had the finest dusting of snow imaginable, seen heavier frosts.
But...we have started a thaw this afternoon...haven't heard up to date forecast for tonight...0 -

Ahhh what I would do for a frost!
Just imagine, being able to just scrape it off the windscreen and off you go minding your own business.
Actually being able to make it from the car to the front door would be rather nice without a line of kids lining up waiting for you to fall all tittering amongst themselves.
Must admit though, the kids have done quite well! Got some wood, a long rope, and they pull themselves up the road on the rope attached to a lampost, and then slide back down again straight into some playground railings. Quite amusing, until one of them smashes their faces in, can see it happening.0 -

we've had the snow - t'is all gone now.
the councils seem to have done a good job with the ice by gritting and salting the streets.
would not like to have to travel outside London at the moment - it doesn't sound too good.0 -

DH said his taxi drives home at night were interesting enough in Town this week!0 -
Ice is starting to melt now, just as the sun goes.
Going to have to go out later. It's raining again now though, which isn't going to help matters. Mixture of rain and hail.0 -
I've not needed to venture out by car this week, so I didn't bother.
If I had, I would have done that 'last minute pressie' thing, more typical of the male half of the species I suspect. You know the kind of thing, a stocking filler .... often a high value brand item ... in a silly attempt to reduce the possibility of it being seen as lacking thought and attention. As it is, I will rely on items purchased over recent weeks.
It's these sort of purchases where places like the big department stores and the Trafford centre really excel.
I wonder how the volume of impulse items has been affected?0 -

Allegedly, or so I was told, our council wouldn't grit the high street ...... in case someone injured themselves afterwards and they were sued. So everyone was sliding all over the place.
Would you believe it?!!!!!0 -

Funnily enough, this is something we were advised also. I'm a director of a Resi association where I live and we have some private communal areas. We were told that if someone falls over on one of the paved areas and we had gritted, we could be sued, however if we left it untouched and they fell over it would be their faultPlease stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
