how can I de-ice my car windows cheaply and easily?

  • it is illeagle not to show your tax disk, i normally fold up the bottom corner of the sheet so they can see - not difficult to do and gets around the issue ;)

    saves loads of time and effort and much simpler than anything else

    wipe the excess off with the wipers
    my wipers have been frozen still, haven't been able to use them for a few days :eek:

    Try lifting them up. Also flex them a bit to crack the ice on the rubber otherwise they'll just work in places rather than over the full blade.

    I would use a scraper from thick snow and then put some car deicer on the remaining leave for 20 secs and it should then just scrape off

    from personal experience, if you start your wipers too soon be careful that you dont burn out the motors!
  • A trick I learnt from my Dad was to fill an old hot water bottle and place it on the dash (not touching the glass) whilst getting ready for journey. A lovely perk to this is that the hot water bottle can then be used on your lap to keep snug for the journey to work.
