Not really good enough though.
Not surprised they were apologetic.
Thats the one good thing if you have a NHS one~this lovely man comes out to do running repairs as needed.
Our GP is really annoying me about that to be honest - her attitude is until they've got a proper diagnosis they won't put forward help for a chair - sod the fact that he just can't get about without one. They orginially said "borrow one for now" as I'm sure they were hoping he'd just "get better". It's the same with DLA, she's said wait until we know what we're dealing with.....not a lot of help in the meantime when we really do need the money.
I shall be pushing harder in the new year for a proper diagnosis and some help, the accident was in March and it's now been 9 months of getting no where.

Pooky, that's terrible - whatever happened to common sense? If it's blatantly bleeding obvious he needs a chair, he should get one, diagnosis or not."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Every person that he's seen has started the sentance with "so you were in a car accident" - the GP admitted that she'd much rather we get all we can through a private Dr and the insurance than to rely on the NHS and it's antiquated systems.
Whilst I appreciate they must see an awful lot of time wasters, when you really do need the help it doesn't seem to be there.
Hope you have a lovely evening tonight. :T"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Pooky~Re the DLA.
If i was in your situation I would put the claim in.
At the end of the day you need the help now.
It would actually work in your favour for an independant doctor to come out to do the assessment. You can tick a box on form.
Why dont you download a form & have a look over it & any queries you know where I am.
Your GP mystifies me.How do they expect your Dh to get around

Pooky, that is totally the wrong advice about DLA. It's given for the care/mobility needs you have, not the name of the condition. He needs to put in an application now. Lots of people get it before conditions are diagnosed, you need to have had the problems for 6 months which he has. I don't know why GP's don't just keep their trap shut when it's an area they know nothing about - a new, very young GP told me in summer I had no chance of getting help from SS, I ignored him, fought and now I have it. Grr, I'm really angry on your behalf now!
Tenmah, I'm shocked at the councellor's reaction, if you don't 'gel' with one you're supposed to be helped to find another. When did you last have it? Things have moved on loads in the last few years, there's still not enough of them out there, but they seem to realise that their job is to help people, not just process them and get them off the lists. And there are lots of alternative areas to get the help from, I've been told to refer myself to a voluntary councelling service, because it's more helpful than the NHS one! I think that as your problems were caused by grief you were probably only supposed to be on the pills short term, to dull the pain until you felt able to deal with it, with the appropriate help. Being just left on pills for 5 years really doesn't seem on. Partly because while you're on the pills they're dulling the problems so you can't properly deal with them, you have to be able to feel the pain to let the grieving process work.
I'm really sorry everyone seems to be having trouble with such twuntish doctors, just remember you have every right to ask questions about your care, ask for second opinions if you want, and change doctors completely if you're not happy with them.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
