It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
I haven't finished catching up on the thread yet but wanted to reply before I forgot stuff...
Pooky, I saw that James May (yum!) programme a couple of years ago, so funny.
Sammy, please don't just stop taking the tablets. I was talking to my friends last night about a-d's (one of them's a councellor). For 'short term' problems (ie not things like bipolar, schizophrenia etc) the whole point of them is to dumb down your emotions, to give your mind time to rest and recover and get over whatever problem's been making you depressed. So what you're feeling is totally normal on them. I get the waking at 4 am when I'm depressed (it's ALWAYS dead on 4am). I tend to just get up and watch some tv, read, whatever, until I'm tired again, otherwise I just stay in bed with my mind going over and over things. Obviously that might not be possible for you, since you've got kids and stuff, but it's better than just worrying. Another thing I do when my mind's racing is breathing exercises. I usually go through the alphabet A (breath in) B(breath out), holding each breath a few seconds. The breathing helps to calm your body, and I find that concentrating on the letters (or numbers, or reciting names, whatever) takes my mind off what's racing round. If getting to sleep's a problem, you could always try something like calms or nytol (my GP suggested them rather than sleeping pills) to help you get to sleep.
I think you need to speak to a doctor though if you feel you need to change your meds, and a pharmacist will know about the side effects.
Sorry if I'm talking rubbish and that's not helpful, it's just my experience.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Ugh, back from shopping. Supermarkets were fine, took ages to get a parking space (only cos it had to be disabled, there were plenty of normal ones) but were no problem inside, and got a whole duck for a fiver, so that's all the food sorted. Boots was fine - no queue at the pharmacy or checkout, and my tablets were sorted quicker than usual. Waterstones was a nightmare though, it wasn't clear where to queue for collections, I waited ages for someone to come to work at that end of the counter and then they told me I had to queue - I could have got to the front three times while I was stood waiting for them to tell me that! Then someone walked in on me in the toilet.
Glad I'm home. I've got a stack of books, a stack of dvds, enough booze to open my own pub, and I'm not going out again now till Saturday.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
I got home at 00.45 this AM. I left work at 15.20 yesterday to drive around 20 miles. Snow caused our roads to gridlock or be impassable.
So stressful, I was afraid of crashing and being hurt when I was driving through the countryside at 10-11pm. I'm now unbelieveably shattered and had to force myself to do some work at home today (I refused to drive to work for 08.30) as it is my last day before leave and I need to finish things off.
Good news is I've ticked off everything on my list that I remember needing to do today...

Bookie arrives late but hopes Squizz has a good Christmas.
Been to the shopping center with DD2 ans GS - very quiet.
Also did Morrison's at 8am - not so quiet (queued to get in ) and looked set to develop into the :eek:gates of hell.
Still - everything bought and sorted. Need to drag wheelie bin out now and try to sort the house out a bit.0 -
Ames - as no one else answered, what do you think Ishould do about having been on anti-d's for five years now? That seems a long time to be on them and I don't know anyone else who has been on them this long
Surely they can't still be helping me especially as I am so teary at the moment, but worry that coming off them would be too much as well?OD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j
