    Hi all,

My DB has been with 6 yo DN this morning-took him ages to get here, though its only about 5 miles as the roads were busy and everyone was crawling. Our road is still bad and the binmen didnt come yesterday,so that'll be it until after Christmas now-have to dig out the black binbags.

DB was stressing about the glitter we were using, and the mess.I had a lovely time with DN creating some cards:rotfl:He kept saying it would take me ages to clean up when they'd gone.As we were sat at the breakfast bar in the kitchen it took about 5 mins to hoover and wipe up  afterwards.I told him clearing up after 1 child is a piece of cake when I used to have 30 lots in the Reception class I used to work in.He just shuddered :D,and warned her she can't do it when they come on Christmas Day.

I forgot to take anything out of the freezer for tonights tea so it'll be something easy.Remembered to get the turkey out though, last night.
Tesco delivered on the dot at 10 this morning (phew, thank goodness) so the fridge is bursting.

Hope everyone is OK,and taking care.

PP- hope you have a good break, and DH has a good rest.Sorry you've been bad.

Redruby- :j yay, you've got a moving date at last.

Lunch was cheese sandwiches and a mince pie,
Dinner is eggs, bacon and beans to clear a space in the fridge for some more Christmasy stuff ;)

Wrap up warm if you are going out
Off for a read, back later

My health has been pretty bad, so we are going to freinds today till next week, so OH can have a break and they can look after me between them

Sorry to hear you haven't been well PP. I hope you and yours have a truly wonderful christmas :)

It must be really difficult taking a back seat and seeing how upset your OH is celyn90. Hopefully, this will come to an end once your husband has spoken to the solicitor. (((HUGS)))

Well, shopping has been delivered. The freezer, fridge and cupboards are full to bursting, but everything's in. I'm struggling a bit this afternoon, as used up a lot of energy this morning sorting kitchen out.

We're going to make our cakes shortly, and DDs want pizza for dinner, so need to see what we can put on them. I will probably just have a jacket potato, as I don't really fancy pizza.

At the moment though, I'm just having a lie down [well, as down as you can get, with the lappy perched on the bed :D], enjoying a well earned cup of tea.

Bitsy - Can you point me in the right direction for you truffle receipe please please xx

I can't remember where I got it from (I did start a thread on them a while ago but can't be bothered to search :o) and since receipe is so short and simple it's just as quick for me to type it out.

4 oz dark chocolate (I actually used half milk and half plain which I think worked out better)
2 tbsp of rum (or spirit of your choice) - I actually use 5 tbsp but I like my truffles quite boozy ;)
1 1/2 oz softened unsalted butter
    2oz seived icing sugar
    2oz ground almonds
cocoa powder or chocolate vermicelli (sp?) to coat

Melt chocolate, rum and butter. I do this all together in the microwave - since the chocolate is covered in liquid it didn't burn when I nuked it on high for 1 minute (lucky escape there I think!).
Give a good whisk and stir in ground almonds and sugar.
Leave to set in fridge or somewhere cool (like my porch! who needs a fridge when I've got that brrrrrrr).
Once it's firm enough to handle you can roll a small tsp into a ball and either roll in cocoa or chocolate strands. this is done best with cold hands too as you won't melt the chocolate mixture again.
I then pop them into mini cake cases and leave somewhere cool to set. I don't want to put them in the fridge as if it's too cold the flavour tends to reduce.

    Have fun making them!

maryb - sadly you may learn how to drive in the snow it's all the other stupid b*ggers you have to watch out for

Had fun at the park but boy it was FREEZING!!!!!!! And very very slippy. Still kids seem cream crackered (as I am :o) so should sleep well with all the fresh air.
Still no idea what's for tea - sat and watched Cbeebies Christmas Panto and now have no energy to do anything :rotfl:

Wrap up warm all and have a good evening.

    Evening all

Home from work at last. I had to explain about 20 times how come I was there rather than in hospital! Back at the hospital in the morning so we will see if I get my op done or if it is cancelled again.

Heard from the fridge/freezer repairmen today they have finally managed to locate a part to repair it and have ordered it and think it may be delivered to them tomorrow. Thay say that if it does arrive they could possibly fit it on Thursday (Christmas Eve) for me:eek: but I am not sure what will be happening at the hospital - everything seems to be up in the air at the moment! Oh well I suppose it will all pan out in the end! I had got used to the idea that I would not have it working for Christmas so if it doesn't get done before I will not worry too much!

(((Hugs))) to anyone who needs or wants them.

    Have a good evening all

Evening all......well after my early start this morning my computer got a virus and refuses to do anything, so I am using the old one OH uses.

DD2 and DGC came, I collected them from the station, we had our bangers, mash and beans and apple crumble. OH had to retire to bed with a nausea do, but was bak down stairs before they went. Boy it was cold again and the snow has now turned to ice and it is very slippy.

The bag went down very well.........DD has asked me to make her a pan holder for her wood burner when she opens the door to load it......so i guess I had better see what I can find and apply myself.

Turkey is in the fridge defrosting along with a piece of gammon to cook on Thursday, although I might do the gammon tomorrow.......

In the morning I will be braving Tesco to do the last shopping before I bring up the drawbridge for the holiday.

  • Good evening all, I had a fabulous time at the theatre, got up to London without too much of a problem, but coming home was a nightmare over two hours from Charing Cross and the train was freezing cold.My DD picked me up from Gillingham, and the roads were treacherous I don't think I have seen them so bad,far worse with ice than with the snow. Apparently there were four accidents in my road today whilst I was in London where folk came down the road opposite and couldn't stop and just slid into each other.I have arraged to go for my lymphodema therapy in January as where my therapist clinic is is on the side of Bluebell Hill at Burham and its out in the sticks, and I spoke to him on the phone tonight and he said it was even worse out there. Not worth ending up in hospital with broken bones ,at my age I don't bounce too well.Still today was great. We had a lovely lunch at Leons in the Strand then went to the matinee of La Cage Aux Folles.
Douglas Hodge (who was educated at our local comp in Rainham) was terrific as Zaza and Denis Lawson as Georges was brilliant .What a great musical it was. My friend wouldn't take anything for the ticket so I bought lunch and when we came out I treated her to the CD of the show. The show was even better than the film, although Robin Williams was good in the film.
There really is nothing like live theatre is there. Well tonight we are forecast to have -5c so I think its time to search out some warm fleecy PJs
Hope everyone is safe and warm at home.
    Take care everyone,
    JackieO xx
