Hi floss - I bought Mediterranean (100g), turquiose (100g) and Phoenix (300g) from www.worldofwool.co.uk - but I used way less than half of it; including making the thick piece to make the flower - I had no idea how much to order when I did it so i just guessed and ordered too much! You don't need that quantity - I would say 200g for a wrap that size and you would have some left over :)

The company are very good - really fast delivery too :)

    Good morning all.

Ivyleaf, DH has put gifts on one side for Christmas, as the Wii is now for Birthday. Children bought me the pastry cutters, the lakeland ones in the retro style tin. Very pretty. They're stainless, dd thought that was a good thing. She has my old ones and they do go manky. Got ££ from MIL and my parents. going to get a nice standard lamp I think, one of those with a reading lamp on it as well. SIL gave me a per una black velvet handbag. Not sure when I will use this, but one day it wil be just the thing. Sis has ordered me a book, but not delivered yet. Bro has got me a sewing book I wanted.

DS made tea last night with a bit of help and we watched the aristocats!

I did a bit of cooking last night but made rather a mess of it, forgot some of the ingredients. Anyway, it'll do.

DS and some of the Youth ORchestra kids hanging out at someone's house tonight. We're taking and another family will bring home tomorrow, with the weather as it is, a sleepover (wake over?) will be a good thing. There are some YS biiiigg mushrooms in the fridge so DD and I will have something with that. She can either take the boys to their party or cook tea. I know which she willl choose! Good idea to insure her for the three weeks she's home! She's at work at the moment.

DS went to help MIL at the charity shop this morning but no punters so he has come home and keen to do his maths. He has taken on an extra A level, having missed the first term, so is doing catching up over the hols.

Just rambling, so better go and get on. I'm sewing for a living in addition to other tasks this week. 500 items to make at about 10 to an hour.

See you all later, hope you have a good day

  • Beds stripped & remade, windows open to let fresh air in, bedrooms all tidy.
Pigs in blankets done & in the freezer, stuffing balls will be done next.
I need to clear out the cupboard under the stairs & put the sack of potatoes in there. Most pressies are wrapped & under the tree.
Some family are now visiting on Christmas Eve instead of Boxing day, just waiting to find out what time they want feeding.
I've stopped for a cuppa & a browse, but best get on.
    Hugs Hester

So pleased you have a moving date at last.

Good luck with the travel and hope you get to the theatre and enjoy it.

Just been on Amazon to order last minute present for one DD to another.

Had to pay £8 for express delivery but saved £15 on the present so it will work out.

DH just made me some tea and I am having a browse on here before thinking of tackling last minute present wrapping.

DH and DDs insist I should not go out in the snow and ice and should rest so am making the most of it. Poor DH groans whenever a parcel is delivered and went chalk white the other day when a furniture van delivering sofas parked outside:eek:

It was for next door ;) but it stopped him complaining about quite small parcels!

    Hugs to everyone

    Hi everyone,

Bargain bird you should look at some scottish recipes for the whisky. I have one somewhere for a delicious gaelic trifle with coffee flavoured custard and whisky soaking the sponge at the bottom - a bit like a deconstructed baileys with cake!

The snow seems to be melting which I am relieved about as DH and DS are both driving in it and I worry about them. Heard from DD last night, she had just landed in Perth from Tokyo on the next leg of her trip.

Spent the weekend finishing bits of shopping and decluttering the house for Christmas. I then made a Christmas buffet for 13 for the staff at work - I do this rather than getting them all presents and it goes down quite well. We don't all work in the same place so don't often have the opportunity to get together.

Tonight i must wrap presents and start thinking about packing fro our journey to the Wirral.

I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas if I don't manage to post beforehand.

  • Hello again

Just playing with the netbook we picked up this morning, just as well I did as my laptop won't be back till 4th jan earliest.

Redruby - so glad you have a moving date at last! :j

Ivyleafe - think it was because when the snow started everyone tried leaving Bluewater at the same time

Am so stressed with the insurance company over our garage - apparantly the assesor has been on holiday and was going to make a start on our claim yesterday! I have an invoice here from the company that made the garage safe and it really needs to be paid - will have to chase them yet again today.

Dishwasher man is here at the moment so can't get on with anything in my kitchen. Havnt achieved much but at least did get to the docs and get a repeat prescription.

PP - hope you have a fabulous Christmas.
