    Good morning :D

It's snowed again overnight we must have about 7" in the back garden now judging how far it came up the dogs legs when they went out first thing  They were all set for a mad chase of each other around the trampoline before I decided it was too early for al that shenanigins :rotfl: The heating is on and I've got a coffee so am warming up nicely.

I made some more mince pies last night using a recipe for pastry in here and they are gorgeous. I have frozen 18 as otherwise there'll be none left for Christmas day ;)

I shall make a mixed veg soup for lunch with cheese on toast and dinner this evening is sweet & sour chicken as the chicken didn't defrost in time yesterday so we had baked potatoes instead.

I'll be carrying on with my knitting & sewing my scarf is almost finished :T I'll be glad of it in this snow!

Zippy Hope your last day is as good as it can be. The basket looks brilliant I've saved it to favourites for a new year project :T Don't apologise for how you feel - Can I just say that you seem to be achieving an awful lot and are very upbeat & happy usually. We're all allowed a down day now and again :A

Richard Hope the little one is soon better it's horrible when they're full of colds.

Have a good day everyone & keep warm & safe out there.

    Morning all,

Snow has all melted here , i quite want it back, its very cold though, just seen on the news that 80 people got stranded and had to sleep in the bedding dept of a shop, :Dlooked like something from a film.

I have a sainsbugs delivery coming today, just heavy bits and bobs drinks spuds etc which I did not get yesterday, oh and fresh stuff cream ect.

We finally exchanged contracts yesterday :Tit was all a bit dicey right up to the end, with the man at the bottom of the chain throwing his toys out and threatening to pull out at the last moment , still all done now, and we move on the 11th Jan :T I am going to start ringing round today, but most things will wait till after xmas now, I am just so grateful to have a date :T

Few bits of running around to do today, pick up dry cleaning, take car to garage, and dd has a booster jab later for diptheria etc, tomorrow I shall be making sausage rolls, veggie sausage rolls and preparing the cauli and brocoli cheese that my sister has requested, they are veggie too and they love my cauli cheese.

Got a wash on at the moment, will hang it on the line, although its cold there is a bit of a breeze.

Tru good luck for Mr Tru today xx

    Have good days all xx

Meant to say, good luck to zippy on her last day xx

JackieO, I live fairly close to you and I share your bewilderment at how pathetic the response to the snow is. However I think the trains are not too bad at the moment so I hope you have a lovely day.

I was in town yesterday because DD2 had the dentist. It started snowing 10 minutes before her appointment finished. By the time we got back to the car park (right next to the dentist) there was an inch of snow on the car. By that time there was already chaos. It took me 25 minutes to get out of the car park. You get 15 minutes grace after you pay for your parking and after that the barriers won't open when you put your ticket in - so you would think that the attendants would have had the wit to just raise the barriers but no, so the backlog built up while they dealt with each car individually. By the time I got out it was gridlock in the road outside. This is not a small road, it is a busy dual carriageway. It took me three hours to drive the two miles home, all of it except the last half mile on main roads.

I was shaking when I did get home. I'm not a confident driver and it was terrifying feeling the car go out of control and start sliding across the road and head for other cars, bollards etc and there was no traction because we were going so slowly. I don't know how I managed to avoid crashing. There was one very icy junction where I helplessly drifted left into the side road while there was a car trying to turn out with its wheels just spinning. I stuck my hazard lights on to show I had no control over the car and a Chelsea tractor behind me just blared on its horn to show its displeasure that I was holding him up.

I feel a bit down this morning. I've been following the preparing for winter thread and I thought I was reasonably well prepared. But my phone died and the car charger wasn't in the car so I couldn't phone DH to let him know where we were or to ask him how to cope with the conditions. So that was a lesson. Also keep the car topped up. We had a quarter of a tank so I wasn't too worried but I would have been frantic if the yellow light was on. So much for my attempts to prepare. As you say Jackie, heaven help us if we ever hit real problems
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

  • Morning All!
    Very chilly here too.
DD hadn't eaten much yesterday and felt a bit warm but had refused calpol. While we were havig a story prior to settling down I realised she was going to be sick-but what a good girl we managed to get to the toilet in time and thats where it all went. Don't think I've ever praised her for a good vomit before but at not yet 5 she did better than a lot of my patients!!!! Unfortunately she was up very distressed twice in the night hearing things-I think it was when you can hear mucus in your ears and it sounds like creepy crawlies in them from what shes said this morning. Eventually she had some calpol and slept. The latest (by hours) that shes got me up was at 8.30 and I have a friend coming at 10. We haven't had breakfast and are still in our PJs-whoops! DD has a party this afternoon -will have to see how she is, though she seems fine at the moment.Need to make sure its not a tummy bug-not passing that on for christmas!
Hugs to all that would like one-better get moving!
    Love the cats Zippy.

  • Hi Guys!

Hope everyone is well and doing okay.

My health has been pretty bad, so we are going to freinds today till next week, so OH can have a break and they can look after me between them:rolleyes: and dont have to worry about anything. They have a lovely home with quarters for us. They are approx 3 hrs away up north, so am hoping the roads will be okay later today to travel. Have the dog with us too:eek::eek:

Anyway, if I dont get a chance at a later date, I want to wish you all a Merry Xmas.

I hope everyone is warm & safe.
My DD2 couldn't get to work last night, she couldn't get her car up the steep hill she lives on, DS4 couldn't get home last night & spent the night at a mates house, he's just got home, & says there are abandonded cars everywhere. I'm just waiting to hear about my other two.
    Take care everyone.

    Morning all

Unexpected day off - DD has had me awake since 3am - she's had a cold and was very rattly and the she started being sick so i've rang in and told work i'll not be in.

Not sure I'll be able to make much of it as she's very clingy altho its Daddy she wants at the mo so I've got five minutes for a coffee.

Had some MS money paid into the bank today :T so that takes the pressure of a bit - I can survive even if I dont get paid!

    Duty calls!

    Morning all,

maryb - sorry you had such a horrible journey last night
MSD - realise you're resting but I miss you come back soon
JackieO - be careful today - just make sure you'll be able to get back I don't trust public transport at all!

Well what a palaver!!!! A little bit of snow and the whole country comes to a complete standstill!!!

I was very very lucky in that it only took me an hour to get home last night but it took DH 2 hours to drive 6 miles and my poor Dad 5 hours to get from the M25 to home (normally a 40 minute drive). Typically, this morning, the roads are all crystal clear so there was no sneaky day off for either of us

Told Mum and Dad our news last night as well - they're both absolutely over the moon and are going to help us keep it secret from the rest of the family over Christmas :D

Have got leftover macaroni cheese for our lunches today, but seeing as I am permanently starving atm, I imagine I will be popping to the supermarket for something totally unhealthy to accompany it :o Tea tonight will either be sausage and mash, or something like egg, chips & beans, depending on energy levels when I get home.

Have a lovely day, hugs to those in need/want xx
