You make plenty of test batches cookiecrumbs. I had a disaster last year - I put bicarb in truffles instead of cream of tartar (or the other way around) and they ended up a sloppy mess. DD1 still ate them though!

Sorry I forgot to say DJStar - have a lovely birthday Sunday (incase you don't get on over the weekend). Happy shopping!

Have just finished another memory wire bracelet and have one left to do for DD1 and I might do a couple more for another friends daughters for christmas so will order some more bits later:D

How many of the freebies can we order in one go from vista print?

Found a nice bra in Peacocks sale for youngest daughter, was only £2.50 so put that away. Didnt get much else except picked up some more selection boxes up the town.

Made a start on the dvds, have sorted the music for all of them so should have them all burned by tonight if things go well, then I will have to print out labels and covers.

Rufus - You've got me so inspired to do quilting. I've just purchased 60 precut Laura Ashley squares! I need some the same in pink gingham now and will have a go. Trouble is - I can't sew very straight. They're all 3x3 so it shouldn't really matter should it? Next week my aim is to make a Dammit doll for sister and a sock monkey for DD1.

    Hello all :j
You all seem very busy as usual............thought I was going to be today but things never go as planned do they.........well not for me anyway.
Thought I'd put the finishing touches to my sons scrapbooks........little embellishments on the front and so on. Well, did youngest sons and that worked out ok (seemed to take me an age to decide what to put where) then for eldest sons OH suggested I just put ''Our Family'' on the front. Out came the ink and alphabets (not used till now) and talk about getting in a pickle-more ink on me I think:eek:
Think I'll type it out in nice font and put a frame round it........not sure this stamping thing is for me.
    (bit of a defeatest.......if it don't work first time I give up...........lol)
Still, ones all totally done and ready for the wrapping stage.
Every intention of going to charity shops this morning but shelved that and I'll go tomorrow instead -just hope no-ones bought all the bits I wanted..........;)
Plus side..........fauxfur lined boots from tescos arrived............they fit a treat........:T Got a silly tie up ribbon at the back though........why do they design things like that ? Oh well, thats warm coat and warm feet -well warm everything for next weekend...........:T
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Goodness me! Where has everyone gone? No posts for over 12 hours??? Im starting to worry about you all!
I have decided that I am no longer looking at the Special Occassions & Celebrations board as I have just spent the last half hour reading through the chocolate slabs thread and now ant to make chocolate! Crikey the more I look at this thread the more I want to do! I swear I am making work for myself! I know my brother and OH would love a chocolate pizza and Mums chocolate hamper would love a chocolate slab to go in it! So Pots of Gold, Snowman Soup, Chocolate, Mince Pies and biscuits are all to be made this year and if wasnt for this site I wouldnt be making them! Hmmm is this a good or bad thing? People are going to think I have won the lotto this year when they have 20 different things!
Hope everyone is well and busy doing Christmas prep and shopping and that is why nobody has posted!!! x

    Afternoon everyone!

I'm back from my hols and a very relaxing week in the Peak District. Just been catching up on the thread - 6 more pages to go then caught up with all your news from last week.

The shops had a few Christmassy items in which were lovely but I had to reign myself in and not buy anymore decorations as I've got loads. Lots of places had lovely advent calanders made from wood to use year after year

However I did buy a massive 5kg bag of pickling onions and 5L of vinegar so thats this afternoons job to start the pickling process off ready to bottle up tomorrow. Lots of chutneys and jams for sale all over for around £2.65 per jar and I'm aiming to offer sets of 4 for £10 with maybe a free jar of pickled onions or chilli jam. I'll have a look and see what I can put together and then email around work offering maybe 2 or 3 sets or 4 if I have enough

Christmas cakes in Chatsworth for the 8" size were £21 and £24 for the richer fruit version and I'm pricing mine up for around £12 for now - will have a look at the costings and then see who wants to buy one.

I also ordered my Christmas meats so thats all sorted now as I can't bear to queue up again on Christmas Eve again and it makes life much easier. Plus as there's only 3 of us no need for a massive turkey.

We had a chat about Christmas, I said what I would like and got some more ideas for mum's birthday next year and for my brother.

Mum loved her anniversary presents - the gold pendant from Argos she loved and wore every day - it looked great and was the prefect length and thanks for the tip off for this it was the perfect gift. She also liked the vase and I was really pleased with her reaction

Mum told me she would like some simple everyday style gold earrings (birthday in Feb) then I think I'll keep an eye out for a neat gold watch to match for next year unless a bargain one comes up in the meantime

Right then as I can smell the onions I'd better get a shuffle on with them!
