Cookiecrumbs, why not buy the cheap jars of cabbage/beetroot/cooking sauces and use those? If you put them and the lids through the dishwasher a couple of times any lingering smell should vanish. I've used baby food jars for mine but that's only :money: if you have a baby to put the food in
I'm challenging myself to use the rest of the month to make a massive Dooyoo effort. Husband wants a particular kitchen implement that is £36 and I've seen a set of books I want to get him - 9 at £4 each. So I'm looking at £68 plus shipping the widget, which comes from a different seller, and I'd like to get as much as possible via Amazon vouchers :money:Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Cookie crumbs i agree with sugar spun, use the 9p jars from sainsburys (sweet and sour or curry) .
I think asda got some too. If you want smaller jars they`re 4 for £1 in £1 screw on lid.
Sugarspun why not try bingoport.co.uk their site lets you redeem the points for amazon £5 voucher, its a free site and you have to write on their forum to get points and play so much bingo, i got two redeems this week £10 amazon. Ooooo you guys are great! Thank you so much!Ooooh :rotfl:maybe not the best idea then. Do you all get together at new year every year? Maybe you could get a book and everyone write a 'resoloution' or something they would like to achieve in the coming year and get it out next year and do the same and see who completed their 'wish'
Ok no ideas coming lol :rotfl:
Nice idea, but although the same small group of us HAVE gotten together every New Year, it's been through luck rather than judgement!! lol Thank you though!! xOn one of the babies first birthdays one year we did goodie bags for the adults and we gave mini pamper packs - each one had a couple of sachets of age/gender appropriate sachets/minis (eg foot scrub, hair conditioner, shower gel, face mask....) plus one of those Lindor chocolates. Those were quite a hit and didn't cost much. Alternatively what about a tiny jar (like the ones you get with scones in posh cafes) of something homemade.....jam/chutney...) or a couple of truffles..........
hmmmm, will see if I can come up with anything else.....
SG
Nice ideas supa-girl, but the one thing that popped up that you said was the truffles. Chrsitmas 2009 I made fresh truffles and gave people home made foody baskets, including these, and they went down really well. So that's an option.... Thank you!! xCDSMILER - what abot the little jars 4 for a £1 in poundshop filled with layers of retro sweets.
Or a party in a box, paper hat, popper, streamers. Bubbles. balloons
And as your nans 90, perhaps a time capsule type thing where you gave everyone a notebook 9p asda(covered in pretty paper or embellishments)and pen, from bookies covered in matching paper. And have a list of questions prepared like . Best memory 2010, best memory last decade. Funniest thing. Worst outfit. Memories etc , and put them in a box suitably decorated "the ***** family" and put in the attic...
I would still do the pots of gold because everyone loves a lottery ticket
And get a free personalised mug for each person from vistaprint via topcash back....(work out free) and put snowman soup in....
Susan - LOVE the party in a box idea - could be a New Years Eve survival kit - playing on the idea someone else (sorry can't remember who!) had about a hangover survival kit - could include a personalised mug too (coffee for the morning type thing).... how would I include the truffles - would be cool to have a reason for them! lol
Love the time capsule idea too, but it's a bit serious for my lot. We're a big meal, wine and silly board game group on New Year's Eve. However, I will store it away in my little brain....you never know! Thank you loads!! x
Other things:
Got DD's Birthday/Christmas list sorted ready to send out to family, and my Mum has already requested to see it! That's a great start! lol
Still waiting for my order from the gadget shop to arrive...hmmm...should chase that up maybe.
Some elements of Christmas planning I can't do until hubby's in Christmas mode too.(pressies for his side etc) Hopefully he will be happy to discuss things in a week and a bit once his last two essays are out of the way!! :T Current project is trying to convince him that dressing DD in a chefs hat and getting her to hold a whisk for a cute picture for our Christmas cards (with "We Whisk You a Merry Christmas") is a great idea and not at all tacky!! lol
Clare xAddicted to Disneyland Paris!

Susan - I will try to remember to take a photo of the football bears tonight. The grandchildren came round last night so couldn't do it then and OH is working nights now so can't get in the bedroom till he goes to work tonight.
Been a bit bored today, can't do any sewing upstairs as he's asleep and I am waiting for the dolls to arrive so I can make a start on the Barbie dolls clothes. Did manage to do a few more digital pages for the slideshow dvds I am doing. I have my brother's and one of my sister's ready to go and I am in th middle of sorting out my youngest sisters photos for hers. Must remember to get some blank dvds when I go up the town next which probably wont be until next week now.
Everyone looks like they are doing well with their organising so well done xx0 -
Any ideas of good presents to send through the post?! I'm trying to think of stuff for people (mainly girls 25 years old). My brain goes into meltdown with postal stuff...prob little trinkets...its easier I find to run with a theme for friends overseas!

Hello all :j
susan - love the 'sweetie cake'..........desparately looking for ideas for my twin grandchildren -18 this christmas..........wanted to get 18 little pressies and then something like a cert. of what went on the year they were born plus maybe a silver chain for grandson (already got necklace and bracelet for grandaughter) plus do them a 'party in a box' -like the 'hangover' idea................lol
So, any ideas for little things for grandson ?
Meant to go into town today to 'do' the charity shops but phone call.....quite a long one, washing to do and hang out then suddenly remembered it was neighbours little girls birthday........hadn't a card spare that was suitable so made one, then another, then another............finished up giving her the first one.......................lol:rotfl: Still, least it means now I've got some spares if I forget someone else.
The day seems to have just flown by and I'm no nearer to anything than I was yesterday ! Oh well, there's always tomorrow.......:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Sugarspun, thanks for the tip. I don't have a baby (just a boyfriend :rotfl:) so might have to stick to the cheap jars of sauce and stuff that I can empty out. I've never even noticed them before so I'll have a look next time I go to Sainsburys.
I have seen a brilliant recipe for Giardiniere Pickles (posh name for Italian pickles!) They look absolutely gorgeous, really colourful - they keep for up to 6 months too so perfect for putting in Christmas hampers. If anyone wants the ingredients let me know.0 -
