Glad you took it easy today Mary. Put your feet up!

Nicky, I haven't a clue! I've made jam before, but I love the sound of the Apple/pear chutney, and a spiced tomato one. I've never even tasted tomato chutney but all out tomatoes will be ripe at the same time and we'll never eat them all.

I can't wait either. We don't drink either but I fancy a go at the toffee vodka. :rotfl:

lauhen - well done :T I really must get down to our Tesco and see what they've got.

elysia -- which I could do all these jams and chutneys -I'm c**p at anything domestic especially to do with cooking:(

Anyone got any ideas for my little grandson for christmas ? He'll be 3 1/2 and I'm so out of touch with that age.
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

    Xmas Saver!
Well, I knew that my son (well both actually) would receive sooooo much stuff from others on their 1st xmas (& birthday.. youngests is on 28th Dec!!) that I deliberate didn't go for toys etc, I bought a very special tree decoration (angel) and had his name d.o.b and 1st Xmas engraved on it (second son's was a reindeer) For thier birthdays it was a moneybox.. again engraved that they could keep forever... just an idea??
You could still get a token toy gift too.... :cheesy:

I did the same sort of idea with Miss Hoodie, her 1st xmas she was 3 months old, she got brought clothes, toys etc of family and friends, I got her a necklace for when she was older. Did the same for her 1st bday she had some clothes and another piece of jewellery. The thing is most people buy for babys 1st xmas or give them money.

Going for a garden theme - even if you have some at ur mums, baby swing, that changes seat and can go up to 10 yrs, sand pit, the good ideas are the turtle or shell design, you can have 1 half with the sand and use the other for water - saves getting a paddling pool, and dual purpose.

Great ideas ladies! My sister picked up the keys to her new house yesterday (split up from OH and he's keeping the house) so she will be moving anytime now. I know for certain she's not organised enough to pack anything like this for herself so Big Sis will sort it!

Good luck with the house move, I know its slightly more expense, but what about packing her a moving in box, teabags, coffee, sugar, mugs, - don't know how old the children are - but you could make a picnic box / meal, small bottle wine for mum (99p in B+Ms, £1.25 in Asda).

If shes moving the last thing she'd be worrying about it getting a meal sorted.

The emergency box, medical box sounds great.

Head to Wilkos or Home Bargains

Thinking Scissors - Got pack 3 for 99p at B+Ms

Or again - not sure on children, but if there younger, what about a set of colouring pencils, crayons, colouring book, so at least mum can get something done.

Also what about an emergency tel list - Doctor, Dentist, NHS direct, out of hrs etc , nearest chemist, supermarket etc- she may still be under the area, xx

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Only christmas stuff going on here today was in Sainsbugs. I priced up some dried fruit. Found the Basics Sultanas next to the standard ones and they were the same! All except the price (half the price for the same amount).Bought a bag as I needed some to use today but I'll be going back for another bag to use in the baking and chutneys later on this year

Bought a few baking things that can store well and updated my lists of what I still need to get over the next few weeks - not too bad, should have everything by the end of Sept ready to go in October
