I know it sounds simple..but any ideas on presents for a two year old little boy? Birthday or Christmas. It sounds easy, but anything interesting and different and maybe something other people wouldn't have thought of buying for him? Otherwise I can just get typical toys, which is okay, but something a little different would be nice..

    Hi Jane,

My son is 2 so I should be able to help with this one :D It really depends on how much you want to spend. My first thought was an 'activities' hamper. You could have things like chunky crayons, colouring pencils, felt pens, paints and brushes, drawing pads, a painting apron, sponge shapes for painting, colouring books, sticker books. You could also print out suitable activities from freebie sites like http://www.dltk-kids.com/ or activityvillage. There are lots of painting activities on there as well as crafts. For the crafts you could put in the equipment needed for example lots of the activities need paper plates which can be picked up cheaply.

As a parent of a 2 year old, I know how hard it is to find things to keep them busy so I'm sure an activity hamper would be greatly appreciated! You could present it all in a plastic storage box so he would have somewhere to keep it all.

mary take it easy, i know you`ll be tempted to do something....so STOP IT

as regards a 2 year old, the best item i ever invested in was a pop us tent, it folded flat and went everywhere with us, from the kids using it as a camp for sleeping, a camp for playing, a camp for eating in, i also got them one of thoses red/yellow cars....with a roof and feet out the bottom to walk....

    Hi all

    Thanks for all the recipes.

I must say I was quite shocked when I read your post Mary - that you're having to make an emegency box for yourself - I would have imagined that you had lots already! :)

btw, I'm surprised I haven't seen more of you on the making food for Xmas thread (only one person if memory serves me well), some good ideas there for jams, chutneys with seasonal produce if you want to take a look.

I've been on there but I presumed it was too early for most stuff.

Have started saving jars for blackberry jam and chutneys etc. YUM.

Edited to add: Nope, just checked and I've not posted but I have been following! LOL

Okay, I think I might try to make some chutneys and such like. You lot have inspired me and I have decided I'll give it a try after my holiday. DH loves homemade chutneys etc but as I've never tried to make them we usually end up buying them from farm shops. Are they difficult to make and will I need lots of extra equipment? I'm quite excited about giving it a try!

    Hello all :j

susan - I've taken it really easy today......felt too tired to do much so sat and wrote all my christmas cards :T Got some left to do for my sons and MIL then thats it !

Angela - I haven't got an 'emergency box' as such -just a lot of 'stuff'...........there's always something we run out of (normally when shops are shut!) so might do one just for all the daft bits we either run out of or can't find in a hurry.

Well what a lazy day............oh apart from washing a load of stuff including dusters -daren't say how many were lurking in the cleaning cupboard when it got a clear out the other day:eek: Kim and Aggie would have passed out I think.............lol:rotfl:
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
