I think someone mentioned wanting Father's day ideas (I've just had to catch up on 6 pages of posts as I've been so busy recently!)
For my DH I have got a lovely whisky glass and had it engraved with 'For my Daddy, love from Louis xx' It wasn't cheap but I know he'll absolutely love it.
For my Dad (or this might be for his birthday in July depending on how quickly I can get it done!) I am making an Arsenal hamper. I found a huge box of Arsenal tictacs in a sports shop for £1 and that gave me the idea. I'll be buying a few bits but also making a lot too. I'm going to make labels and cover lots of normal things to make them 'Arsenal' things! In fact, if anyone has any ideas for me that would be great. I've already decided I will make wrappers/labels for a chocolate bar and bottle of ale but now I've run out of ideas. I need some of your inspiration!Making money for Christmas 2012!0 -
:jHello all :j
sarah -thanks for that -I hadn't thought of the pound shop...........maybe next time we have a hospital appt. (bound to be one...........lol) I can see what they've got.
Well, wet day and had every intention of getting stuck into button necklaces and all sorts..............was not to be. Young lad we look after decided not to come home last night so I had to report to police that he wasn't here and wait two hours till someone came -2am !! Then phone's ringing at 8 this morning to see is he was back..............hour later he turns up (knew he would)...........3 hours later pc turns up to have a word with him. So, I'm shattered !!! But all was not lost.......had a delivery of freebie pens this morning -forgot I'd sent for them -ten altogether, so I got out my glue and paper and covered the advertising bit with some pretty paper.............I've got two little boxes I had some little flowers in that'll be just right for notelets and I can pop a couple of pens in there and give the rest with diaries or covered notebooks.
Did bit more to scrapbook no.2 as well so fairly productive day all things considered..............lol:rotfl:
Oooh !! Just remembered Ive got a pack of 5 or 6 little notebooks I got from the 98p shop in Torquay........cover them to match some of the pens and its a cheapie little pressie...............I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Bananas is a book clearance website by the bookpeople. It is even cheaper than thebookpeople but is like i say all clearance titles so nothing too up to date. I don't use them often but when they start doing £1 and £2 titles plus 12 £1 titles for £10 etc its usually worth a look.
I bought my jackets and iron on diamante designs today, 2 birthday presents and 2 christmas presents. Very pleased with myself!
Went onto ebay last night and ordered the mini whisks - thanks for the link whoever put it on!
I even picked up a mug in home bargains and I thought if I buy 1 each time I'm in there I should have enough to put my snowman soups in mugs this year. Looks abit more substantial and the mugs are all under a pound inour homebargains. My hubby keeps shaking his head in dismay, lol.0 -
Mary - I bet you were worried, glad the lad's back home with you.
Welcome Kayandy
They sell retro sweets in Julian Graves, the shop that sells dried fruit, nuts etc.
Nici what a good idea for the jackets - very thrifty!
I bought 2 more of those Victorian style photo albums this week, not sure if they are going to be for me when I re-do my photos or to make up as presents with photos inside.0 -

Just an update.
Had a sad day yesterday. Miley (the dog) is back at dogs home. Assistant there couldn't believe the problems we've had with her, but we put up wth them because she was lovely except for the biting episodes
I was a bit stunned when she said come back in a couple of weeks and pick another. I know the poor dogs need homes but thats a bit quick!I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

Elysia - sorry to hear about the problems with Miley, its hard when you try your best to help a rescue dog, but in the end if it isn't working out it is the best thing for everyone if they get a chance to go back for more training and re-homing.
As a newbie I'm just wondering how does the challenge bit work on this thread. Do you set monthly challenges or is it a yearly challenge we just update all year? Sorry if this is obvious somewhere. I did try to read most of the thread when I joined but I may have glazed a few times as it is just so long...:o
Hi to all and hope you have a lovely peaceful bank holiday.
Nici x0 -
Thanks Nici. On this thread Mum2one sets the challenges on the 24th/25th of the month so look back through the pages until then. Just pick the bits you can or want to do!
Did you know there is another thread - money making for Chirstmas. We all do surveys, write reviews and sell bits on ebay to make the money to buy the christmas presents. We all help each other, and there are challenges on there too. Don't worry - they are only little ones and we set our own, as JamTart (who runs the thread) is absent at the moment.
I hope it hasn't put you off too much. It really is fun, and it's great to have someone motivate you when you feel low.
The reason I came on. Card Warehouse is an online craft store Here. It has a pound section, but for some reason within it, there is a 50p section and two 25p sections. There may be bits and peices for Christmas cards or scrapbooks (Mary) or anything crafty really. Also, there is 10% off everything until Monday. Bargain!!!
I hope someone finds it of use.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

Card Warehouse or Mad about cards (same place I think) is fab, I've bought from them far more than I should, lol. I run a craft class locally and often buy supplies from them. The products are good quality and if you buy from the the pound shop then really good prices too. Postage is a little pricey but if you buying all in one go then worth it.
Oops got to go my MIL just turned up to visit.
I'll check back later xxx0 -
