What is it with this country?
a little bit of snow and ice and the whole country grinds to a halt.
No wonder nobody has any sympathy for the royal mail workers, going on strike (for no reason) and then not pulling out all the stops to deliver at christmas.
The snow and ice hasnt stopped me cycling the 5 miles to and from work0 -
Best you get a job with RM then.0

Yes because thats the only answer.
Hows about the royal mail workers do the job they are paid to do?
There used to be a time when nothing would stop your postie getting your mail to you.
Not anymore, its, I might slip on some ice, I cant go out in the rain, My bag is too heavy, I dont want to work the full shift im paid to work.
No wonder royal mail is going under.0 -

If they slip, they will then have to be paid sick pay, then may claim compensation from RM for having been made to go out in those conditions. From the posties ponint of view if he / she slips and injures themselves badly, they if like me will get full sick pay for a week then SSP which is nothing to live on when used to a higher wage and have bills / commitments to make.
If you are that concerned about the post, either ask to go and collect it or clear the paths outside your house and get your neighbours to do the same.0 -

Not at all, driving a coach full of people is completely different to somebody walking.
Have any royal mail workers died from slipping on a bit of ice?
Didnt think so
Like I said, posties used to deliver in all weather, you're the ones who will be complaining when you lose your jobs when nobody uses royal mail because they are unable to deliver mail at an important time of the year.
How is it that couriers are able to deliver in this weather?0 -

Is that the same couriers you are slagging off in another post?
RM do delivery parcels by van  not just on foot.
You let me know when nobody uses RM to deliver
Did you go to get your mail then? :rolleyes:0 -

and am i not on delivery?for doing it i now have an xmas of broken finger, bruises and cuts
FYI RM's new park and loop system uses vans for foot deliveries so the weather is very pertinent
yet again i had to get pushed out by passers by today as my van was stuck
as for 'just' walking
