    Just an update

The TechGuys were due to come out today to fix my PC,booked this on Monday

Today comes and no-one has been or phoned so i rang them up and was told that there are no parts

They are coming on the 28th to check the PC to see if its the graphics card,he cannot send them out with a motherboard as they are waiting for stock,so if it is the motherboard then i will have to wait until a part arrives before the PC can be fixed :)

Isnt the 28th a bank holiday?

They said they didnt have the parts although it was booked on the Monday, didnt get a phonecall on Tuesday about them having no parts and no-one rang me yesterday to inform me that no-one would be out yesterday due to the above

The person has booked it and given me a job number and also a number to ring to see what time my repair slot is (have to do this the night before after 9pm)

He never said on the phone that with it being a bank holiday no-one would be out so i might be better off ringing them back up just to make sure that they are coming out on that day

Probably have been better off posting on the Techy Forum to find out what was wrong with it.

Could have fixed it for £20 and had a stress free life (and a working PC).... you may have months of hassle and frustration ahead still with those clowns.

didnt realise i was on demand,i think you will find some of us use tabbed browsing so seeing me 'viewing' a thread doesnt mean i am on this site

The wording of SOGA is confusing. It states you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund but fails to mention that the choice is the retailers.

I think you need to read it again and not the snippets on consumer websites.

Hi there, been browsing this site on and off for a few months but have now signed up as i need some advice :o

I purchased a PC Tower on Boxing Day last year (26/12/08) on the 19th of December 2009 it has broken
I took the PC Tower back to the store i purchased it from and was told im only entitled to a repair,i did quote the SOGA and the manager said the only thing i could have was the repair

I wasnt happy to hear this because the Tower cost £528.49 and to me it should last a whole lot longer than what it has done

I came across this from the PC Buyer Beware website (cant link to it with me being new)

Anyway i rang them up today to state the above and got told i was reading the wrong SOGA even though it linked to the amended one on the BBC Watchdog page, then i got put onto a manager who said he wasnt legally trained to answer anything regarding the SOGA and that his answer would not change and that it would only be the repair and nothing else,i found this person on the phone to be smug and wasnt at all helpful, just kept repeating the same thing so in the end i just came off the phone

Can anyone help me on this matter please and inform me on what to do,do i have rights to get a replacement or do i have to accept that i will only be able to have the repair?

    Thank you

I wasnt uppity on the phone with them,i asked the person on the phone to read the SOGA to me and he said he wasnt legally trained to do so and thats how i left it

I have read the SOGA and i do understand it,i just wanted to make sure everything was 100% hence me signing up here and also phoning Consumer Direct (rang them before logging up here, they only rang me back today)

I never asked anyone in the shop to read out the SOGA?

I never proceeded to think i was entitled to a brand new machine,i came away to make sure i was told the right information,i came away unhappy but never have i said i was right in any way,i just made sure that everything was covered
