some comunity spirit here.. guy asks a simple question and a few of you jump on him.. hes not asking for compo, hes spent a lot of his money on something and wanted that item to last him... considering this is a money saving site why shouldnt he look around and make sure hes not being fobbed off.

PLEASE REMEMEMBER - Pls be nice to all MoneySavers. There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.
    :p
Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies
  • The wording of SOGA is confusing. It states you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund but fails to mention that the choice is the retailers. If they replaced an 11 month old pc it would be at huge expense. Just think of all the wasted good parts that would be left. No one would buy it when it was repaired at close to the original cost and the end result would be a massive hike in the price of items to cover the cost of the replaced % that inevitably go wrong. Pretty poor for those vast majority who's machines do not fail. The most cost effective way to make sure you have a working machine during it's warranty is to replace the faulty component. A pain in the !!!! but financially for everyone the best option. Hope it is back soon.

I never asked anyone in the shop to read out the SOGA?

I never proceeded to think i was entitled to a brand new machine,i came away to make sure i was told the right information,i came away unhappy but never have i said i was right in any way,i just made sure that everything was covered

On this forums, just like all other forums, there will always be someone who is always negative, derisory and who will post just to put you down.Best way of dealing with it is to ignore it completely. If you respond it just gives them the chance to attack you further and the thread then descends into a slinging match.Good luck with your problem and hope you get it sorted.

If I paid over 400 pounds for something I wouldn't expect it to pack up after 11 months.Problem is everything now is made in china crap . We should get manufacturing back to this country.

Firstly, most people wouldn't even dream of demanding a replacement computer after their one failed after 11 months. Most people realise that something like a computer will be fixed rather than replaced after that long a period of time.

The OP did nothing wrong by requesting a refund rather than a replacement. But when the company told her no, it is clear she would not take no for an answer, as she looked up the SOGA, contacted someone else in the company, and then started misquoting the SOGA at them! Which really does show her up and qualify her as a "pain in the !!!! customer", and I can see where custardy is coming from when he posted the comments he did. I don't think he has anything to apologise for.

You should be happy with a repair. And you shouldn't start telling others what the law is when you don't have a clue what it is yourself.

I came back home to check that what i was being told was right and came on here to ask people if what i had read and what i had also been told was right,as someone said above the SOGA can be misread but i never demanded anything from anybody, was never once rude on the phone or in person as im not that kind of person

    Just an update

The TechGuys were due to come out today to fix my PC,booked this on Monday

Today comes and no-one has been or phoned so i rang them up and was told that there are no parts

They are coming on the 28th to check the PC to see if its the graphics card,he cannot send them out with a motherboard as they are waiting for stock,so if it is the motherboard then i will have to wait until a part arrives before the PC can be fixed :)
