New Ford Fiesta anyone??

I'd wager its a bigger 2.0lt petrol engine, or a really small one, meaning you're having to accelerate harder to go as quick as you would have gone in your clio.
Its not what you drive, but how you drive.

The best value Fiesta to buy is the 1.25L petrol.
Our 58 plate gets a long term average of 44mpg.If it takes a man a week to walk to walk a fortnight how long does it take a fly with tackity boots on to walk through a barrel of treacle?0 -
It's a 1.2 Petrol. The clio was also a 1.2 petrol.
I don't drive my cars hard - I normally have 2 kids in the back and drive very carefully. I follow all that advice about fuel efficient driving not accelerating or braking hard.
I don't keep unecessary things in the car so have no excess weight in the boot.
Any other thoughts????0 -
I have a 1.2 petrol and haven't noticed it being particularly fuel hungry, I'm getting on average about 300 - 350 miles between fills which is a mixture of town and motorway driving and on a par with my old clio (p reg 1.2 petrol). If its all m'way I've managed 450 in a tank but I was literally driving on fumes when I got to the petrol station!
I'm generally alone in the car when town driving but regularly carry two sets of dive kit on the motorway trips as my buddy drives a motorbike. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Thanks scubaangel - so I guess 250 miles between fills on just town driving compared to your experience/ figures doesn't start to look too bad.
It's just quite noticably different to my old clio - although this did have a MASSIVE fuel tank (larger than my husbands Volvo!!!!!) but it was more expensive - obviously!!!0 -
TBH the state my clio was in I know the efficiency was shot to bits so pretty much anything had to be an improvement, and I do try to minimise my town driving by cycling or walking where I can - mines an 09 plate so I only have the summer to draw from and as I haven't done all that much town driving so it'll be interesting to see what the figures are over winter as I'm using it all the time now. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

I'm still going to have the flaky petrol guage looked at in the new year should have some more fuel consumption figures by then too. But the trip computer just doesn't seem right.
Will get them to check it all out.
Guess winter driving is fuel heavy and using heater / heated screens / lights more has to make the car thirstier.
Time will tell I guess.0 -
My car has dropped from 46mpg in town driving over summer, to around 40 now. Heating on full, aircon on, headlights and windscreen/rear screen defrosting on too.0

I have been getting 49mpg from my new shape diesel 1.4 fiesta, although on my last tank of fuel I got 53mpg as I am working on improving my driving style! Most of my miles or on motorway doing about 75mph but I also do do a bit of in town driving but not huge amount - I'd like better really but it's still better then my previous 1.2 petrol clio which over 2 years did an average of 38mpg but I did used to really push it!0

I collected my 1.4 petrol Fiesta Titanium last Tuesday. I always have the Automatic Air conditioning on, and its been on Auto at 28c. I am doing 30mpg at the moment and it keeps going up, which isnt too bad!
It hasnt been on the motorway yet, but it will be going down to Devon on Boxing day, so I will know better after that trip!
Its a fantastic car!!!0
