New Ford Fiesta anyone??
Hello everyone,
I don't normally venture onto this board, but have a motoring issue so thought I might check you all out.
I have recently purchased a new Ford Fiesta. Nice to drive, nice colour, all good really untill I have to start filling it up......... and never seem to stop! It's fuel efficiency is DREADFUL!!
Everything I read about it in advance suggested much better fuel efficiency than I am actually experiencing.
I realise that just driving it around town will not produce the greatest MPG figures, but compared to the renault Clio I traded in it's awful.
Has anyone else been unfortunate enough to experience the same??
I have been thinking I should contact Watchdog or similar to highlight that Ford are lying on all their publicity material.

With regard to this - has anyone any knowledge or experience with a Magnofuel device?
I have one sat here and I'm a little bit scared to use it (nor am I 100% certain where it goes on a Fiesta?)

My friend has a 58 plate Fiesta and she is getting rid of her's as it is really bad on fuel consumption.0

Thanks for that alwaysonthego,
bit of a relief to know i'm not the only one!
anyone else??0 -
I have a 52 plate fiesta and I must say that I get really good mileage out of it! It's an all round decent car. Maybe they changed something when making the new ones. How much does it usually cost to fill your tank and how many miles can you get?0

The onboard trip computer suggests I am getting 30MPG - my calculations suggest less. My 56 Plate Renault Clio I traded in would get at least 35MPG and 40MPG at best and I haven't changed my driving.
Have begun to keep records of how much fuel I'm putting in and how many miles I get out of it. But don't think I've yet got enough information. Perhaps another few fill ups.
There seems to be a problem with my fuel guage. The on board computer gets to 50 miles left in the tank and the light comes on but the fuel guage is nowhere near red.
I guess I need to get back o the dealer and get them to sort it out.
But still Fords published fuel efficiency figures - even for town driving suggest many more MPG.0 -
We have just bought one and I don't think it gives very good mileage either.0

New cars generally consume more fuel until they are run in - give it about 6-10k miles"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100

Pop it in the glove box, it will do as much good there as anywhere else. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
6-10k miles!!!!
I drive less than 5k/year !!
It'll take forever!!!!!!!
I even tried expensive BP petrol.
an1179 - do you like the other aspects of your fiesta? Drive & handling etc....
I think it's great in all ways except the fuel efficiency.0 -
OP if you don't mind me asking, what sort of engine does it have 2litre petrol? That gum you like is coming back in style.0
