and what is the child supposed to think when some guy as old as his grandad moves in with no explanation?

Well I'm sure she will explain. I mean I don't look like a Grandad. I look a lot younger.

Why would she be entitled to maintenance?? We have no kids at home.

Because thats the legal. The law. If you dont like it, well, what a shame. If she gets a good lawyer, and you dont you are shafted. And half of any savings. And half your pension. And half of any inheritance, depending on how good her lawyer is.

But it will be worth it. Playing with the new girls kids will be worth missing the footie.

I don't understand all the animosity on here. I came on here looking for some help. People get divorced, just like people upgrade cars, all the time.

I agree she would be entitled to half my savings, but not for me to maintain her. It might give her the push she needs, to earn a living. I don't mean that to sound horrible, but sometimes it is needed.

What you feel is right is neither here nor there. She will, after 25 years of marriage and diminished earning capacity after staying at home with kids, will be entitled to some spousal maintenance.

Think of it as paying off the lease on an old car.
