  • Count me in on this one... I'm new here and this seems a good money saving challenge to start with.

Welcome Emma:D. I'm newish here too, I had the best Christmas thanks to MSE, without going into more debt, but want to be even more prepared for next year. Good luck with the challenge.

    Afternoon all,

Checked my purse and pockets and had 6 Euro's in 1 euro and 2 euro coins, so I have added them to the pot. :)
    February wins: Theatre tickets
  • Can I join in as well please? I hope to be debt free by december 2010 so £365 to spend with no debt would be fantastic. I have a terramundi pot that I bought for £1 at a boot sale so I think I will use that and I like the calendar idea to make sure I don't miss a day.

    DEBT FREE 23/12/11 :)
  • Can I become part of this challenge? It sounds quite a nice easy way to keep hold of some of my money...instead of spending it! I have a knack of using empty laundry tablet boxes to collect change, but I'll make sure I seal the lid this time!
  • The 99p Store have savings tins (which you have to open with a can opener) so I bought one each for me and DD today (Winnie the Pooh and Disney:D). The first pound is in mine, yay!

I also got DH a £500 savings tin from Hawkins Bazaar, they were £2.99. I'm slowly converting him to MSE, he's put a £10 note in his to kick-start his saving (he did a bit of gardening yesterday for someone and earned a little extra).
He said he will be trying to kick his Malteser habit too as he can eat a large bag a day! He wastes far too much money on sweets. Good job he's skinny and has a very physical job;)
  • Ah - skintbuthappy81 - I thought it was just me with the pringles tub - gave me an excuse to eat em all ! Mine remains unadorned apart from the yards of sellotape !!
Finally Debt Free (£8k to zero) yay! :j :j

I like your idea of marking it off on a calendar. I bought some little stick on ones (like the ones kids use in school) before christmas and have more than my kids need. I'm going to copy your idea (hope thats ok) and stick one on my tin so I can mark off everyday that I add my pound and then I will be able to see when I need to catch up :T

Ooooh now thats a good idea, putting the calendar in the tin :)

Will try to find some of those little ones (I think I know the ones you mean) and do that too :)

This idea swapping is nearlly as much fun as the challenge lol

I'm up for that - anything to give me a kick up the bottom. I have £2 in my tin already, this challenge is so good, i love putting my £1 in every morning :D putting a fiver in would be extra good.
