  • Can anyone recommend a good place to buy black tights...? I want quite thick ones, 20-40 denier, but the only ones the supermarket do are 'nearly black' - so grey then!

By the way, I can't belive I forgot to mention my excitement at dying my old Bench top (which was pale blue and blotchy!) to a fantastic shade of purple!

:j:j I was so excited by how well the colur came out, I was skipping around my wee flat with a manic grin on my face :D.

It feels like I've a brand new bench top, all for the price of some washing machine dye (also dyed my off-white double duvet cover).

There's some fab skills to be learned living frugally!

Sarah, which supermarket are you buying from? I get mines from Asda, three pairs for £3 and they are really black, I wear them to work and I like thickish ones too!
  • Sainsburys. I must admit I haven't looked in Tesco, and our nearest Asda is about 20 miles away.....

I have spent money but as I'll be using the items for the office I'm not declaring it on my total. I got a skinny rib black poloneck and a blue smart top from M&S. Each were £5 in the sale - a complete bargain.

I've ordered some shoes from Next (total £65.00) but will only keep 1 pair max so will wait to see what happens when they come. They will be worn to work so again may not declare them :rotfl:

is it a new machine? If so try going to John lewis and say you bought it there(check they sell them!) the ladies there are very helpful and should show you how the machine works.I just bought a new one after throwing my heavy old one (a pressie for my 16th....am now 55!!!)The new one seems very strange and it is taking me a while to follow the instruction book(I have a fear of instruction books:rotfl:)

you could also try evening classes to get a bit of help and take your trousers in for the teacher to show you how it is done. Also if there is no book with the machine maybe the website of the manufacturer could help?(instruction books should show you how to do things)

or buy a basic book from amazon
