Thanks. I thought the application was simpler this year though it didn't make clear what the tuition fees are for 2010/11 until after they've asked you how much you want to loan for them (it's £3290).

Plus the terms and conditions they ask you to read and accept are for the year 2009/10. I particularly liked this section:

"The Government has to keep the value of what is owed in line with the general rate of inflation. They do this by working out the rate of inflation each year as defined by the Retail Prices Index (RPI) and fixing the interest charged to that rate. The aim is to maintain the value, in real terms, of the amount of the loan you actually owe....The new interest rate will start from 1 September each year. This is based on the Retail Price Index for the previous March."

Would have thought they would have changed this seeing as it isn't true for this year.
  • Just done mine. :D
  • I'm going into my final year and have just done mine online. Spreading the word to all my friends too!
Current debt: M&S £0(£2K) , Tesco £0 (£1.5K), Car loan 6K (paid off!) Barclaycard £1.5K (interest free for 18 months)

    Thanks, I'll let people know.

I almost certainly won't be on this course next year - I don't know if I'm getting an internal transfer or one to another uni (or quitting altogether). Is it worth applying anyway then doing a change of circumstances if I happen to still be in education, or waiting to see for sure? I was thinking of waiting, but if I don't have a confirmed uni for another few months that could cause delays with payments? Where if I've got a confirmed one (even if it's for the wrong uni) would I still be paid?

(I got my loan/grants for this year, but got suspended from this uni because SLC didn't process my change of circumstances quickly enough for uni's liking!)

I spent 20 minutes trying to find out, but if you actually press the Help? button next to the question about how much is your university charging, it then tells you, doh!

Same here. I didn't know so guessed at £3250 (my theory was that if it was higher then I'd just pay the difference directly to the uni if the difference was small). Had a call today from my LEA (very prompt!) asking me if I meant to put down £3290. They've probably have loads of staff sitting there with only a few applications at the moment!

Done :) Will harrass the OH to get his bit done so that they can assess me :)
Will he just need last year's (08/09) P60 or are they doing it differently this year?
