I've made the white choc/cranberry fudge. I've also made the same recipe with good dark chocolate and ginger. It's really nice, but thickened even more quickly than the other, and the surface isn't as smooth. I'll chop it up later to stash away.

    Sounds delicious.

I decided to make a batch of ganache for truffles before going to bed today... usually I melt the choc and add cream. This time I decided to do what everyone else does and heat the cream, then add the chocolate. Something isn't right - it looks as if it's split - there's excess oil and the chocolate mixture is shiny and bitty... any suggestions as to how to fix it? I did wonder about heating it up again gently... or turning it into something else...

Kitchen is, of course, messy again  as the chocolate is cooling, it's too cold to take the rubbish out, and I've also got roast veg cooling too.

Just going to deal with a bit of paperwork, and then bed I think!

Mustn't forget I have an 8.15 physio appointment and need to leave in plenty of time as I have to go the long way round and stick to the main roads.

I'm in. List looks perfect for me. I was just thinking 'I need to make a list of bits to buy'. I'm doing the roast potatoes and parsnips on Christmas day, to save MiL a job and also as I do better ones (it's generally agreed!).

Am I to understand that soappie has no boiler, I feel for you! I wish I still lived round the corner you could have come round!

Bit of an odd evening. Had dinner, the fresh tuna which I still didn't really fancy but didn't want to waste as it's not cheap! Then I went off to the carol service, had to wait 20 minutes for a bus in the freezing cold which then diverted and I had to walk along a dark, icy street to church (will be on the phone to the bus company tomorrow!). Then my friend dropped me off up the high street to get cash as I was meeting DH and his mate for a drink. Turned out the pub we were going to was shut. It has been v quite on sunday evenings recently so perhaps they've decided it's not worth it. So after phoning DH we made our way to the other pub (noisy place full of teenagers! which we hate) and it was rammed with no seats so we decided to come home. Got in touch with mate and we all walked back here (15 minute walk), they bought some beer from the spar and are playing fifa on the ps3. Suited me perfectly as I wasn't in the mood for socialising! I'm not really drinking at the moment either so would've been on soda all night! By the time we got back though I'd been walking around on the very icy pavements for nearly an hour. My hips are achey now!

So I've made a batch of rocky road, chatted to friend on phone, cut up the fudge (i made mine with cranberries and macademia nuts as they were significantly cheaper than cranberries alone and the berries were sweetened with apple juice which i prefer) and boxed some up.

DH did most of the wrapping this afternoon, I still need to do all his stuff but that can wait til tomorrow.I need to wash up before bed as my friend is coming tomorrow morning, most likely about 8.30-9am! She was meant to be coming for the day but her DS (my godson) has been poorly so we'll see how he is tomorrow and play it by ear. Must print the voucher for him too actually.

Sorry for the stream of consciousness waffle! Off to sort my list!
