Take photos of the clothes that don't fit you, and use them as screen savers :D (so you don't forget you've got them), then pack them into bags or cases and put them on top of the wardrobe, or elsewhere where you won't be tripping over them all the time.

Is one of your problems not having enough storage? If so, either think about a work-around (stacking plastic crates with lids aren't very expensive) or be ruthless with the clutter! Ebay what you can, charity shop the rest - they will be very grateful.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Since I posted, I have removed all the water glasses from my bedroom but made a snack which I now have to clear up after

OK, you've removed the water glasses from your bedroom, but that, probably isn't the priority in the grand scheme of things.

If your children are home in two days time, then focus, initially, on getting their bedrooms sorted - at least get the cereal up off the floor and the beds made with clean linen so they have somewhere cosy to sleep.

    Then take a deep breath.

Then concentrate on the kitchen - that's the place that harbours evil germs most (even over the bathroom!). Get that ship shape - even if you can't throw anything out, at least create neat piles.

    Then take a deep breath.

Same with the laundry, you'll be surprised how small the mountain becomes if you just fold and stack neatly and put it all in one place

Then breathe, sit down, recoup and reconnoitre and let us know what you see after that xx

  • One room at a time, and don't put too much pressure on yourself. Start with kitchen or living room.

Be strict, have a box for charity, a box of 'stuff which belongs elsewhere' and a bin bag for stuff to throw.

Doing one room at a time means you see results relatively quickly. Of course the other problem with this method is the 'Painting the Forth Bridge Effect' which occasionally happens in my house :rotfl:
