Dont tell me that bootman, I usually go at 4 p.m. Christmas eve to our Waitrose and hover round the free range turkeys til they halve the price.0

I'm going tomorrow as well....I'm moving January 1st so only want to have a minimum amount of food in the house. After 'stock taking' and 'list writing' I have now decided on a menu for the next week and will be going to Tesco in the morning ... I'm only buying for myself so no turkey needed.
Can't avoid it, so will have to go...how bad can it be [she said...]£9500/£10000 baby fund saved so far0 -
there was talk in november on the news that there could be a shortage of fresh turkeys as supermarkets under ordered because of the credit crunch.
Picked up my 6.8 kilo bird and a gammon from M&S today so no more visits to the supermarket although I may brave a Christmas eve mid afternoon trip to try and bag some meat bargains for the freezer0 -
Me and hubby went to our local Asda yesterday at 9am got parked ok just before it started to get busy. Managed to get shopping done fairley quickly but had to wait on the booze section opening as it was roped off and opens at 10, got some nice bottles of wine. Can't believe what i spent and we didn't even go overboard buying christmas foods it's scarey. We'd also been to Morrisons a few days before buying beef which was £7.50 buy one get one free and Walls frozen sausages which are really good, Asda used to stock these but doesn't now for some reason.
Merry Christmas x :santa2:I love this place :j:T:j0 -
We went today at 3pm. The car park was covered in slushey snow, about 2 inch deep. No good if you'd got new boots for xmas or anything

Inside was packed. Got stuck between people, got hit on the bum with a trolley,
People with trolleys full of stuff, and here was us with a bag of carrots and not much else!. Couldnt see anything for people in the way. I guess tomorrow will be the same. I just always wonder why people have a trolley full of food when the shops will be shut for one day!. They all shop like it's the end of the world

As a few people have mentioned going last minute to get a turkey ,I thought I had better warn that our Asda ,as of 7am yesterday morning ,have totally ran out of turkeys and will not be getting any more ~! ,so maybe have a 'back up' chicken or joint just incase
