I went this morning at 8:30. I decided to forget the getting some beer idea, and walked instead as it's only 5 minutes away, and the car and estate are both iced over.

The car park was about a quarter full, as it would look on a typical Sunday morning when they open. I whizzed round in 10 minutes, and went straight to an empty checkout. That's the way shopping should be!

In fact, I'm tempted to have a think if there's anything else I need and go back tomorrow morning.
    Nice to save.
  • Went to adsa this morning, 10.00, absolutely packed! Never mind got all shopping I needed, only a smallish trolley load. So all done for christmas. Will pop to small local tesco if I need anything else.

    merry christmas, katiex

My OH has decided he wants to go christmas eve so he can get a reduced turkey lol, I will not be joining him on his quest thats for sure!

mildy related question, how long does a med frozen turkey take to defrost? Is it about 36hours? It won't fit in my freezer so it'll start its defrosting as soon as its out the supermarket so i need to time my purchase of it.

We went shopping at 11am this morning at our small-ish Sainsbury's and we got around quite comfortably and there was plenty of everything on the shelves... but that's not why I'm commenting!

My advice if you are going to a supermarket is to think very carefully when you are parking the car if you have had snow in your area.

We saw some diabolical parking because people couldn't work out how to position their car because they couldn't see the parking guide-lines. I'd say be prepared for about 25% less parking space as people park at near diagonals and over the lines with large gaps (or no gaps!) between cars. Not to mention the slush making for some very interesting manouvres by some drivers and skidding their slush over your carefully packed shopping!

My overall advice is, if you can, park towards the quieter end of the car park and carefully make your way over to the store - a higher risk of slipping over, perhaps, but a lower risk of another car sliding into yours or parking so that it makes it difficult for you to get in your car, let alone get out of the car park! :)

    • In a fridge at 4ºC (39ºF), allow about 10 to 12 hours per kg, but remember not all fridges will be this temperature.
    • In a cool room (below 17.5ºC, 64ºF) allow approximately 3 to 4 hours per kg, longer if the room is particularly cold.
    • At room temperature (about 20ºC, 68ºF) allow approximately 2 hours per kg.
When your turkey is fully defrosted, put it in the fridge until you are ready to cook it. If this isn't possible make sure you cook it immediately.

Use this website you can put in exact weight of bird

    I've been Money Tipped!
Went to my local Waitrose for my Turkey today, last thing to get, they had sold out! Not sure if getting any more in.

They only had small frozen ones, not a fresh one to be found.
