I saw "Pre-Icer" by Carplan, in Wilkinsons the other day, spray it on the night before and allegedly stops ice from sticking to the windscreen, so you just use the windscreen wipers in the morning....
Anyone tried it?
I've used a similar product, good for when you go out at night and its likely to freeze up while you are out, maybe not so good when its a really hard frost and you won't use the car until morning.0 -
Its all good getting your locks unfrozen but if you dont grease / oil them after wards your going to have the same problem every morning.

Ive sorted my 3 series coupe bmw frozen door problem.
Its just the seals around the doors freezing to the glass so the windows cant shift down the 5 mm to open. So a damp warm towel in the morning loosens it all up.
(The coupe door windows have no frames)0 -
Bit off topic but I couldn`t get in the wheelie bin. Resorted to hot water from kettle!0

Slightly off topic on this one, but my mate went to clear his car this morning. Started it up, got the heater on full bung, window demisters etc. Went round the outside scraping the windows clear, nipped into the house to put the scraper away, and came back out to hear 'Clunk' as the central locking locked the doors.... and yes, the only key he has, is the one in the ignition.
Don't know that his wife appreciated getting woken up at early o'clock to wait for the fella from the AAFight Crime : Shoot Back.

I use the Halfords own brand, ''over-night de-icer", absolutely love it. Of course it doesn't work if it pours with rain after you've sprayed the windscreen0 -

Er... that happened to me a few years ago. An older BMW (so much for german engineering) with temperamental central locking.
On extremely cold days the doors opened and locked randomly!!
When I saw how the locksmith entered the car I felt like the biggest idiot ever. He just wedged the door open 30mm then used a coat hanger to press the electric window open!!!!0 -
WD40/Silicone lubricant helps prevent locks from icing up.Happy chappy0
