    eh, wow, missed stuff!

Took a break from here as prescribed by Robredz et al. Nailed Grand Theft Auto IV and Assassins Creed 2 in just under a week...

I met with Occupational health today and she will report that I am fit to sit through a Disciplinary. I'm actually itching to get this thing over and done with, I've done nothing wrong, but if they want to sack me, i'm sure they'll find a way!

I asked for copies of the notes Occ health passed onto HR and it all seems Kosher.

HR emailed me on Monday and asked if the Doctor had given me another sick note, and if he hadn't then she wants to progress the meeting.
I replied, and within that reply I asked her why she hadn't responded to the three emails I sent to her requesting company policies via PDF or similar. She then emailed back saying that she would advise of the meeting under seperate cover, and that she had "unfortunately" not received these requests, but if I emailed the request again she would look and the content and advise. This was Monday, I am still waiting to hear back.

Funny how she received the email telling her I didn't have another Doctor's note, but not the three I have sent over the past two and a half weeks.
They do play some silly games.

Thank you guys for the continued support!

    On to Bayonetta!!

Oh yes, they do... My company managed to lose sick notes which I had e-mail confirmation had been received. They didn't realise that an over-enthusiastic member of staff had 'let me know'...

Don't just send it by e-mail, send it by recorded or special delivery as well. Refer to the specific e-mails that she HAS and HASN'T received by content, date and time. Point out that you are only using special delivery because their e-mail system is too unreliable to use for such a serious matter.

  • whenever I send an email that is important I always CC my own email address - easily proved then and theyre not so inclined to deny receipt

Always CC the e-mail to someone else (or even your own e-mail address). Then if she's deleting them as they come to her so it looks like you never e-mailed, you'll have proof that not only did you send it, but you received it back yourself.

Good Luck with the Disciplinary, I take it will be as quick as early next week now? It sounds like they want very little to do with you other than the Disciplinary Hearing (probably to minimise any mistakes they may make) and just want to get rid of you.

Afraid I agree. I think there may be a nasty little confrontation either before or after, with OP possibly backed physically into a corner and offered some small inducement to resign voluntarily or something along those lines. Part of the trouble with this is that things have gone so far that the normal workplace protocols will be severely under strain if OP returns, so I fear they will want rid in order to maintain order. It is plain that Sales bloke will be considerably diminished if OP returns.

I think the above is a strong possibility and the OP should not accept the first sum that is offered him if that is the case.

If the company has any rules or guidelines as to how managers should deal with employees comitting serious breaches of company rules away from the workplace, then this sales manager has probably breached every single one of them. It was in the pub toilets where he should have suspended the OP on suspicion of drug abuse. Instead he went and blabbed to all the remaining colleagues in the pub of what he thought he had discovered.

Too pi55ed to think straight he abjectly failed to treat the OP fairly, ensured that any independent witnesses had their objectvitiy tainted and things became worse from there.

The OP needs to bear in mind his character has been unjustly besmirched, 3 years of his career down the drain, damage to his health, indignity of being suspended, probable period of unemployment etc.

Thats got be worth a few grand plus unreserved apology and glowing reference at least. Or go to tribunal. I don't think his company would relish that.

i am forever an optimist, with a back-up plan.

i really really hope OP will get job back as there is NO evidence of drug use. also, as there had been previous plans afoot for the mutually convenient move abroad then the OP was thought to be good at his job.

but, having seen how various cases of colleagues have previously turned out (both ways, good and less so btw), sometimes a company are prepared to pay a sum of money to make everything go away (which i think is wrong and shouldn't be allowed).

so, if the worst does happen, i'd want a year's salary not to take it to a tribunal OR (has happened with a friend) a PAID transfer - in your/OP's case, China.

but, i really hope that you get what you actually want OP.
