although digging around for other ideas, this sounds a good idea for a cake

    3/4 cup sugar
    3oz butter
    3 egg yolks
    1/2 cup milk
    1 1/2 cups SR flour
    Lemon essence

Beat butter and sugar to cream. Add egg yolks (well beaten), then milk and essence, then flour. Bake in moderate oven for 35 min.

Oh that sounds easy, I can get some lemon essence in tomorrow:T

    How much is a cup:confused:

Amaretti biscuits are a bit bumpy as I used granulated sugar instead of caster, still lush though the bottles of ameretto are coming in very handy.
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

Where do you get cheaper baking ingredients from? they arent cheap in Mr T's a small packed of ground almonds was over £1.50, glace cherries £1.50 I thought home baking was supposed to be economical.

  • well, after OH having a Kevin the teenager episode last night and flouncing off, I've not heard from him. Under normal circumstances, that would be normal as he leaves every Saturday and doesn't come back until night time. So he is either

    a) sulking at his house
    b) sulking at his house and has gone out (I think he has a night out tonight)
c)doesn't realise he's been an arse and will be here in about an hour as if nothing happened
    d) doesn't realise he's been an arse and has gone on his night out.

I'm favouring b) because normally when he goes out he comes round here for a shower and to get ready but as he fixed his boiler the other day, perhaps he doesn't now need to. The fact he hasn't asked for a lift anywhere also adds more weight to b) but as I have nice pink cheeks from my mars bar vodka, that's a no brainer now anyway.

If he is sulking, it speaks volumes that he favours staying at his house and watching Football Focus etc rather than trying to save the relationship.

I know Lou, I tried making my own muesli, it cost a fortune, loads more than bought stuff. I got some stuff at Julian Graves when they had a sale on, and there's a health food shop in town that's a bit cheaper, but it's still eally expensive.

Expensive roast nuts are not meant to be eaten 200g at once! Feel a bit sick now...

Fell asleep, didn't do the cake, I'll have to do it in the morning. Or buy one...
