Can we have this recipe please????:D

4 trifle sponge fingers or 4oz left over plain cake (can use digestive bix, but haven´t tried that)
2 oz plain or milk or white chocolate (I added a bit more)
1 tsp apricot jam (I used 2 tsp marmalade. Have also replaced jam with a bit of golden syrup)
2tbs orange juice or spirit (I´ve used brandy and rum)
chocolate vermicelli, icing sugar or cocoa powder to finish

grate or liquidise cake and add to melted chocolate. Add jam and enough juice/spirit to make a fairly stiff paste. Roll into small balls and coat in vermicelli, icing sugar, coconut or cocoa .

I got about 13 truffles from this mix

  • I'd like to join please, although I have no idea how I'm going to be even 50% money neutral, I like to live in hope!

There's me (31), my OH (33), my DD (6) and my DS (4). I have three siblings and my OH has two, all of which have partners. We have 11 nieces and nephews between us and both sets of parents and 3 nans and 1 grampy, all of which we consider close family and buy for.

One of my main problems is the amount of parties that my children get invited to. We have been to three this week. There is a bench mark of £5 for gifts for my childrens friends but I often spend no more than £3 if I can help it. One of my aims for 2010 is to make some gifts that would be suitable for my children to give.

Anyway enough babbling, merry christmas everyone and here's to a cheaper new year!

    Hi everybody,

Please may I join in? I live with my partner and 2 DD's (18 & 6). I am a stay at home mum but I have to be able to earn some money to be able to do it.

I have sold my stuff on ebay, done car boot sales, sold hand made cards, and sold Avon. I do clicks, cashback sites and Surverys. I'm hardworking and would love to be Neutral next year.

So for now I wish you all Merry Christmas, have a good one and let's get started!!! See you in the sales. xxx

Right, I've just had a look.

To start for next year I already have:

    £10 in Quanti
£10 in Quidco (plus £60 waiting to be received)
£30 in Special Bank account just for Christmas pressies
    £20 in Topcashback
    £10 in Newvista Surveys.
    £5 in Boots points
    £10 in Nectar points

(Tesco points we use as deals for day trips so these won't count!)

So not a bad start - if only I can keep it up. :o)

Please can I join in - was hideously badly organised this year and hoping next year will be better (though will be my first in Scotland so hopefully will be more organised). Normally I make alot and use vouchers all over the place but managed diddly squat this year ( though my best mate has got a gorgeous Handbag courtesy of a comp i won.)
just me 35 (as good as) and like baking and crafting though not very creative and rubbish at making cards atm I will get better

    Hi
I would like to join please? I was on the other thread with all the Santa Challenges and I enjoy reading what everyone has to make. It really has inspired me to do some of the crafts myself.
I am 23 and I am engaged to OH (26).
Hopefully this challenge will help us next year as we are moving into our first home at the end of March so the more savings the better I say.
I work full time, attending an evening course 1 night a week and I am also a Guide leader so week nights are full but weekends may be at home making crafts now lol

Cant wait till next year - Have a Merry Christmas everyone.

Wow welcome to everyone! Glad to see the amazing response and hope majority of you stay with us for the whole year.

Whilst these threads are really useful for motivation, have any of you thought about starting a blog of your own? that way you can quickly jot down what you've done/earnt/spent/bought and have a record of it online, accessible from any computer.

I have several blogs and use Blogger.com - VERY user friendly even for the biggest technophones. PLUS you don't have to make it public, it can be for your eyes only which is really useful! PLEASE NOTE: You don't have to do this! Just a suggestion in case you fancy it!

Did you know the Thrifty Gifty Gals have their own blog too? It is the highlights of these threads all categorised beautifully so that you don't have to search through loads of posts!

So glad to meet you all :) xox
