Hope you didn't hurt anything....so far I have managed to stay upright, a record for me!
Unfortunately, my dad hasn't, stupid begger went over twice on Sunday, was too macho to seek medical attention straight away and only after being nagged by his wife and 2 daughters (me and my sister), made an appointment to see his doctor today.
Doctor sent him straight upto the big hospital for x rays and he has come home sporting a lovely sling, a shamed face after being told off, instructions not to lift or carve the turkey on Christmas day and an appointment to see the physio on Christmas Eve.
They don't have much if any snow left down at theirs....we still have a winter wonderland up here.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
No managed to come away unhurt, just a tad embarassed!
We have admitted someone though who slipped on ice, hit their head and is now in a coma and on a ventilator, so it is dangerous out there still.0 -
Eeeekkkk.....it certainly is.
We were all worried about dad, especially when the doctor immediately sent him up to the big hospital...he is nearly 70 and not in the best of health.
Thankfully though, not as bad as the example you give.We made it! So your dad hasn't broken any bones then fortunately?
MrGeeves1980 nearly went over Sunday, coming back from cinema. The sod tried to save himself by half grabbing hold, half pushing me and deflecting his fall - cheers, just what I want, all 20stone of him landing on little me!0 -
Nope thank goodness....badly bruised and ligament damage apparently to his shoulder.
Eldest has been over a few times, which did concern us as he kept hitting the bits that haven't been too well over recent months...but again, no problems. We made it! Crikey, it just gets more lethal out there.
I'm late again, I walked down the drive to check the hill this morning and narrowly missed being got by a car skidding., so skated in.
I would leave it till much later...but my haylage is meant to arrive this morning, before the thaw....so...can't...yikes.0 -
Now melting..... 2c and bright sunshine.
Still 6" on the ground and pavements, but roads clearing and roofs starting to show through.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

The main A road has been closed due to several accidents and mobiles seem to have gone down. (At least mine, my sistsers and mates have).
I'm stranded again, but looks like every car is here today, inclduing all the workers, it's normally half empty on weekdays. Getting a bit tedious now.
The rain is coming down, and freezing into little ice bits, not snow, but actual ice bit like hailstones but much finer, and we have freezing fog (apparently, just looks like fog to me).
Just wish for snow really, I love snow anyway, but at least it gives a bit of traction!
Unfortunately, 2 people died last night on the roads here, and looks like some others may have this morning hence shutting the main road (which is the main archery to everywhere!). Even if I could get out, I couldn't go anywhere I need to go! Edit: It was a coach which crashed, and the emergency vehicles also crashed when they got there.
Never known it like this. Always had frosts, but never blanket ice, and on top of that, more rain falling as ice.0 -
That sounds horrendous Graham..no idea what the roads are like today here as we haven't been out yet.

Well, we've still got plenty of snow in our little corner of Berkshire...
The footpaths are soft snow - a bit crunchy.. the roads are compacted snow and ice. We have freezing fog - though in reality it's more of a mist.
We've had no public transport since Monday afternoon and no post since Monday....... still waiting for the last present to be delivered.... if we have no post today I might have to go into town tomorrow.
Took the dog and grandson to the woods and park this morning and it is still really pretty and scenic, we have a large fishing lake now frozen - I've been trying to instill the dangers of frozen lakes into grandson while trying to get the stupid dog on the leash in case she decided to go for a dip..
I've just put the third Delia Smith Irish Whiskey Cake into the oven - the first two have slowly disappeared.... also had to replace the Christmas Chutney I made last month and tomorrow will have to replace the sage and sausage rolls and the sausage and cranberry rolls, not a single one made it to the freezer last week!!!! I was so prepared this Christmas - or so I thought! Instead it's actually been twice the work.
It's actually better here than it was after Thursday's snow - it had become like sheet ice by Saturday - the snow we had on Monday has covered all the ice. We had about 5 or 6" fall on Monday. So it's walkable and drivable with care. It isn't thawing - it's still very cold.
Grandson is currently chasing the dog round the garden trying to get the carrot (the third one since Monday night) back that she's pinched from his snowman..... at least they are enjoying the weather.0
