Poor you, Sue, in the cupboard under the stairs!

I now have this very Harry Potter-esque vision of you. With your ex as Mr Dursley, perhaps...

Lol...not quite as bad as Harry Potter, no door to block it off so not really a cupboard, just the space under the stairs...better than it being a wasted space.

As for ex as Mr Dursley...hmm, come to think of it :rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Oh joy. I've got this to look forward to later, planning on going tonight.....when there will be even less I suppose. Panic Christmas shopping combined with panic weather shopping....everyone will be buying double the normal double..if stuff actually required to surive at most two days of closed supermarkets. :(

I never know why people do this....I have never done it.

I went shopping yesterday to get my normal week to week bits and the place was stupidly busy, I will probably go in on Christmas eve but only to get the usual top up things like milk and bread that I would normally have purchased on a Friday (but go a day early as Friday is Christmas Day)...plus of course, I tend to pick up the brilliant bargains as loads of stuff is reduced to silly prices before the Christmas break (once picked up a fresh turkey for 50p instead of £23!)

Saved me loads last year and the food was all stored away in my freezer, we were still eating gourmet foods in Feb because of it!

No, we don't. We buy extra, but because people are here for longer, e.g. on Monday its not just me, and mother, its us and possibly the menfolk, so twice number of cups of te etc. But not obcene amounts for non-existant people. Its particularly bread I think: perhaps peole think somethin will go wrong with the oven and they'll be eating sandwiches for Christmas lunch. Thinking about it I don't think we eat any bread at all on Christmas day... my dad might have a sandwhich the next day, or bread with left overs, but...not loaves and loaces of it...

Two days? TWO DAYS! The shops are closed for two days. OMG thank you for the heads up. I tried Fortnums but they are not sure if can get another hamper out here before Xmas day now, apparently there's some snow around. It's disgraceful - what are we supposed to do? I suppose I could try Ocado but it's a bit downmarket. I mean the veal and fois gras is apparently humanely produced - bloody world's gone PC mad. Never tastes the same to me if the animal hasn't suffered a bit.

    Merry bloody Xmas.

Conditions on the road have been safe enough for the first car journey for four days today. Lucky. Food purchased for sheep and chickens, should last until boxing day. Does anyone know whether the supermarket opens on saturday and sunday, as I'm told boxing day is monday.

Until a few years ago, I would always lurk in Sainsburys on Christmas Eve and pick up fantastic bargains. I wasn't the only one, as I knew people who ran B&Bs or small catering outfits would do likewise.:D

Then, something changed and the former profligacy was not so evident. No more whole salmon for £1, or turkeys for £1.50; just a few very large birds left at the end (a bit like Young Farmers' discos!) I was a little better-off by then, so I stopped bothering.

Strangely, it was only last month, on a trip to our old home, that someone collared me and said: 'Tried your trick of lurking in Sainsburys at 4 pm on Christmas Eve last year, It didn't work!!!' They seemed peeved and appeared to be blaming me, though whether it was because they could only get a scrawny chicken or a huge Sumo-wrestling turkey sufficient for a month, I can't say, because I changed the subject PDQ.:o

:D we did that a few years ago and it was fine. Less evident last year and this year will be diabolical if the run-up to it is any proof.

Retailers are definitely doing less stocking. Might still pop there at Christmas eve for bargains but won't be relyng it for meals.

Two years ago we got a gigantic freerange turkey on christmas eve for £1. Unfortunatly, there were no deals at all last year, and I doubt there will be again this year.

I'll take whatever is there to be honest, I don't go in with a pre defined list.

Saying that, I won't buy everything because of the price...it has to be able to be used at some point, even if it is by my parents.

I missed it last year because I changed my normal routine and was at my parents earlier delivering the mince pies but I intend to try to see what they have this year.

I've just been out shopping. Waitrose was rammed and I HATE crowded spaces, it makes me stressed and unhappy.

Lots of under-stocking by retailers I think, lots of things already run out on shelves and no more replacement.

Nearly no real trees left in SE London suburb. OH went to get one today and everywhere had sold out....just bit's of stump and twig leftovers. Found one in the garden centre...but deff more expensive than last year.

Thank goodness he did get one as we are entertaining his whole immediate family Xmas day...it will be A Royle Family Moment for sure.

I have to admit, my stock control levels haven't allowed for any surplus this year at all. I feel quite pleased with myself.....well....for now.:o
