Is it to do with the rules that say they have to check you're legally entitled to work here? I've had to send copies of my passport to other companies to prove I'm allowed to work here.

Reporting for duty Sir! SEB and all that :D

I feel like a spy sometimes!

Hi all, pretty new to this so please bare with me. Needed some extra cash so thought I would give Mystery Shopping a go, read this thread (and all the others!!!!) and started signing up to a few companies, I now have 6 in my favorites that I check daily, but the good news is, although I only signed up a few days ago I have already completed 2 assignments and have another 8 booked in and I am really excited, does that make me really sad??

One question though, does everyone feel like an idiot on their first visit and did everyone forget things like 'shop to the left and right' and have to go back and get the assistants name?? Also does it get easier to remember everything?

Also, one final thing, I like this so much better than my full time job, is it really realistic to make a full time wage from this as at 6-10 fee a visit I would need to do about 38 a week to meet my current salary.

Please be nice as I am a newbie :)

    Cheers

Of course we will be nice to you. One of our main aims is to help people like you. Don't forget we were all once in your shoes.

Some tips...if you are in an eating place or coffee etc. Have a newspaper handy and open it in the crossword section and use that to make notes.

Before setting off print your notes and use a highlighter pen to mark must do's...like left and right, name of staff, number of customers etc.

What I do is then click on make a note on my mobie with lt rt staff name etc already filled in...then click save. While in a queue say click on edit and it looks like you are just texting.

In shops always try and obtain leaflets etc as reminders of products recommended. That is especially useful for mobie phone shops as there are millions of mobiles and deals out there.

When speaking to a staff member with a name badge use their name in the conversation. It kind of imprints it on your mind I find.

    Hope that helps.

And if you make a real error like doing a shop the wrong day you are better phoning the MS'ing company and being honest. Most are understanding about it and will admire your honesty rather then trying to bluff you way through.

I can understand your annoyance with regards to the 1st post needing updated but found this post to be very condescending and uncalled for.

Just my tuppunce for what its worth.

Hi all-typical-just plucked up the courage to do that mobile phone assignment for my first one and its gone-my fault for hesitating.
I've signed up for Helion but theres no training bit available for me. Is everyone getting this, is the company actually up and running yet or are they just collecting shoppers for now ?

I believe they are collecting shoppers at the moment but are hoping to be up and running in the new year.

I am taking the approach 'least said soonest mended'....

Did my first trailer check for FT last night - quite enjoyed it!

So when are we expecting the release of post christmas jobs? any ideas?

I've had a look for the same thing - there are password keepers but they don't auto fill in for you. As far as I can make out, Keepass seems to be rated better than the Password Keeper and is supposed to be very secure. (Both are free).

I would also love an auto fill password app.

i have password keeper on my phone. apart from gap i can remember all my details but just can't be bothered to type them in all the time! can u search for and accept jobs on abai? i can get to the search screen but when i try and search for jobs it keeps telling me to enter a value, even when searching for local jobs

I find the time to MS when and if I can, and I only book shops when I have the odd half day or at the weekends or even in my small lunchhour. I do not have a personal issue at all and I have no idea where ytou have got that from - my one and only post "against" her? I also cannot remember this supposed me not being arsed to wait in a queue MS shop that you seem to remember so vividly. The only MS I didnt do and mentioned the word "arsed" in was one in a club 40 miles from my house and I had a total last minute change of plans so couldnt go into town that night.

    Let me refresh your memory.

"Tried to do a GAP phone shop visit afterwards but browsed the shop for ages and the guys ignored me and I couldn't be arsed to go up and speak to them as it was just me in the store so I left"

And with that .. I really am signing off until after Xmas. I'll be at M15 with Hollypear et al if anyone wants me!!!

I was told by 1st tracking the next lot will be out early Jan. Would have been nice to actually see a film though. So long as it isn't No Place for Old Men. Most annoying ending ever.
