Yes, hopefully and no, no yet.

I sent mine on Tuesday but a friend who sent his on Monday hasn't had his cheque cashed yet there's still time.

A small gain if I was on time but not going to lose sleep over it.

SL must be one the few companies that has so many shareholders who would like NOT to be customers.

    :)

My cheque, which arrived last Wednesday bang on the deadline, went out of my account on Tuesday 11th.
Midas in last Sunday's Mail came close to suggesting that it was "fill your boots" time.

But today's Sunday Times Money says keep your chequebook in your wallet until small shareholders have sold out and the price has consequently fallen to under 200p.
A small prediction for next Sunday. Some justifiable gloating in Financial Mail while the Sunday Times considers more "important" topics ;).

MSE thread - What is the best Sunday paper for finance?

Financial Mail was the only paper to be positive enough to clearly direct its readers, without an accompanying string of caveats that would have put off all but the unwary.
  • I agree RI but there will be a significant number of small shareholders (that's big people with relatively few shares, not small people who hold shares) who will not have sold yet, so the ST may yet be right! I'm not sure how many years we need to wait before they can be conclusively proven wrong :)

The next major influence on SL's share value must be when SL join the FTSE-100 group of companies.

I think a 25% gain before the year end seems realistic at the moment. Always a chance that the stock market could take a tumble before then which would scupper all investors.

    Fingers crossed.

    :)

So they've got it right over 2 days - but we all know investing is about longer time periods. Let's see where they are in a year, and if they have outperformed a decent UK unit trust.

  • But will you be comparing the top performing UT using that greatest of all inventions - hindsight.

It's only fair to select the trust today.

And the Chief Executive and top ozzie import Trevor Matthews both lashed out much more heavily (nearly £1.4m between them) - also at 241p on the opening day of dealings.

    Investors' Association link

But the Standard Life pension fund trustees decided to bale out at 230p.

    My cheque was cashed today.

There really cannot be many left for them to process now. Just need my share certificate next.

248p - 249p at the close of business tonight.

A profit of 30p per share already on top of the 218.5p starter. :)
