  • Listen Guys. My intention was never to cause trouble or animosity amongst the members of this forum, so please do not fight amongst yoursleves or cease to provide a wonderful resource for all craftspeople and artists out there. I only wish that a resource like this existed when i was starting out all those years ago and actively invloved on the Craft Fair and Event circuit, back then I myself produced a craft fair listing that was circulated around craftspeople to ensure everyone got the best information and therefore best chance possible to attend fairs and make a living. This forum makes my early attempts look very primitive and amateurish and I congratulate all of you guys for your hard work and effort here.

I, as I am sure you all do, take my business very very seriously and have spent considerable money on advertising and PR over the years, so perhaps my response to the initial post was one of shock and horror that the reputation of Celtoi Designs was brought into question. Perhaps most of you did not see it this way and for that I am glad- I did not imply that anything was said to cause deliberate damage or harm to my business by those involved, though in reality the potential to do this was there.

"smokiewater" was indeed making a valuable comment and I absoutely agree with the need to ensure that comprehensive Public Liability Insurance is in place, something I still have even though I no longer attend public craft fairs or events. However to use an unture story about Celtoi Designs to prove the point was wrong- I wish to clear up any misunderstanding now and state that at no time in the history of Celtoi Designs was a claim of any description ever made against the company, if it had of been, believe me, I for one would have known and been greatful for the protection the insurance would have given me. Whether it is an Urban Myth or not you cannot fault me for addressing the inaccuracy of the comments and their source and putting to set the record straight.

I for one know exactly how hard it is to be successful in our industry and also know how challenging these economic times can be, so it is essential that a resouce like this exisits providing accurate and detailed information and advice. For this reason I will leave the matter there in the hope that at some point communication may take place between "smokiewater" and myself to ensure that a similar misunderstanding does not arise again and would hope that at some point the original poster will correct the inaccurate post so that there is not the potential for others to misinterupt the point being made.

I look forward to leaving this whole misunderstanding behind me and becoming an active member of this forum and offering any suggestions, information and advice I can in the hope that it benefits those craftspeople just starting out. I also look forward to speaking to "smokiewater" if only to determine their identity!

  • Good Morning All.

I read on here a couple of days ago that there is a Craft Fair in Broughshane on 2nd December, but there weren't any other details.

This is right on my doorstep, so I think I would like to go if possible - does anybody have any other details, so that I can contact the organisers?

    Thanks in advance
  • I have no desire to create negativity on this forum, i was simply correcting an earlier post made by someone that was defamatory and untruthful. "harleygirl" despite your knowing "smokiewater" I can absoutely guarantee you that the information posted was completely untrue and as I said bordering on libelous. This is a public forum and people have the right to post what they want, including a 'looker' like me, but the rules state that posts must not be libelous.

I agree that this may be best sorted out privately, however the comments were made in a public forum for all to see and this has the potential of damaging the reputation of my VERY successful business and one that I have spent many years of hard work building up. It is important to me that the comments made were addressed and clarification given, so as to prevent my repuation or business suffering.

Also I have no idea who "smokiewater" is much less have I any idea how he/she could be such an authority on my business- ie the comments regarding the so called insurance payout and yearly takings.

Just for the record "harleygirl", perhaps before you called me a "looker" you might have checked that I in fact only found and joined this forum today, perhaps a reasonable excuse for me to have only made one post!- so much for you observing the 'be nice to all Monerysavers rule'! Given the tone of your response though, I wonder why anyone hangs around here long enough to make second posts!

Perhaps though "smokiewater" may respond and clarify the matter, so that this matter can be laid to rest and we all can get on with getting ready for the busy Christmas season.

I totally see your point of view, I myself have insurance and if someone said this about me I would be cross too, but as Glassact was pointing out it would have been better to pm Smokie about this. As I did say I know Smokie and if after she chatted to you privately and she had got the wrong information she would put this on the forum and delete her previous post.

Regarding me calling you a 'looker' a lot of dedicated crafters have left this forum because of 'lookers' the reason being as you yourself have done, we work extremely hard as crafters and share all our contacts on this forum and unfortunately a lot of lookers where coming on and booking fairs but not sharing any fairs which they knew about.

This was the whole purpose of creating this forum and it was extremely frustrating and sad as a lot have left and created there own private forum.

I apologise that I jumped the gun that you where a looker, but hopefully you can see our point of view.

I welcome you to our forum and I hope that you will be a valuable member to the forum and share any tips, hints and dates which you have.;)

I am only new to both crafting and this forum and I think it would be a real shame to lose such a valuable resource. Inevitability internet forums run into difficulty from time to time but surely its up to the people that post regularly to keep things going and get over any bumps in the road.

On a side note, has anyone ever thought about having a specific NI craft forum?

I think there is one that you have to pay £20 for....hence one of the reasons this was started...lol the website that you pay £20 for comes on here and takes our dates and spelling errors/web address errors too :-) ALLEGEDILY:cool:
I know that there is a VERY private FB page which is by invite only for a lot of the regular posters.:)
