  • Hi Glassact

Had a look at your website too, very stylish, can't wait to see more pics!

Loads of us seem to be doing Bangor Elim on the 6th, it will be good to have a wee catch-up

The icons are totally addictive - though I could start to look a bit weird come valentines day. The website is definitely good for follow-up sales, looks professional to have one too:rudolf:

Home made Candles - I too am doing Glenlola at the weekend - see you there, think Sheedee is there as well.

Glassact - shows that don't work for some people are great for others, so don't let neg comments about last year put you off Castleward it could well be BRILLIANT for you! Last year the weather wasn't great, so fingers crossed for another good weekend to bring the punters out!

Has any one else found some show organizers to be really tightening up on things? i have done Banbridge for years and was telephoned yesterday looking for my Environmental Health Reg plus my Hygiene training, have sent these through to them, but it is the first time they have asked for these - I have also had afew visits from Env Health Officers at shows were I would not normally see them, and my Mum had a visit from Trading Standards at one recent show!! The moral of this tale is - make sure you are legit!!!:snow_grin
Smokiewater - We won't be at Glenola as we are at the Balance House on Saturday. What on earth did Trading Standards want with your Mum? Sounds a bit worrying.

I sell handmade soaps (fully certified) and wax melts amongst other things, and I'm in regular contact with people who make the same things as me and live in the UK (mainland).
Recently there have been lot of visits at short notice, from trading standards regarding soaps and candles which look like food (cupcakes etc)...TS appear to be checking both websites and craft fairs and really clamping down on what can be sold and what would pose a choking hazard to children! There has been a bit of an uproar about it all, as many big dept. stores are still selling cupcake candles & soaps...but as crafters, if we don't stick to the regs, I would imagine our insurance wouldn't be worth anything if someone made a claim. One friend in England had a call from TS who said they would be with her within the hour, and some of her candles with decorated tops had to be withdrawn straight away and some of her wax products were taken away for "bite" testing!!

Thought you were at Glenlola, sorry!

Trading Standards pulled me Mam about football cushions - although she buys fabric that is licenced, apparently she would need a seperate licence from the club to sell the cushions - obviously a crafter selling afew £4.00 cushions at the odd Craft Fair is a threat to a multi million pound business!!!! She dosen't sell them any more.

Home-made candles - sounds horrendous what you have been through with TS, afew years ago a girl was selling dried flower arrangements at the fairs, and she gave it up because of the hard time they were giving her! I thought the regulations for food were tough, but regulations seem to be affecting more and more of us at the minute.

Must get off my soap box for today and go and do some work!:T
