A £500 (possibly more) 'bung' for want of another word..
Officially an incentive for companies to take on long term jobseekers, IF-
- If the job is likely to last more than 28 weeks,
- and is for at least 16 hours a week..
(jobcentre checks firm / job etc is legit, before paying anything..)
May be worth looking into as employers, or mentioning when applying for jobs.

A similar bribe has been around for a while. Another is to pay a prospective employer so much per week for 13 weeks.0

it wouldn't be an incentive for me, £500 up front for someone that maybe useless? No thanks I'll do it the proper way and choose the correct candidateAlways ask ACAS0

As an employer, I have wasted my time in the past (though not anymore) with the "I'm only here cos they will stop my benefits" argument.
I would want £500 per candidate from the JC to interview.
(Or being realistic I would want £500 per 5 candidates interviewed).
I am sick of trying to fill positions that are 20K a year 5 on 5 off (8-2), full BUPA, Xmas bonus and having to put up with JC idiots. They don't want to be there, don't want to answer any questions, I don't want to see them.
Waste of time.

why do you think that every body who sign on at the jc are idiots.
not all are like that I for one would love to have job but I'm either over qualified(packing cardboard box's) or don't have enough qualifications in my line of work.and maybe to old although they are not admitting it.
I've only got 7 years to retirement.0 -

As an employer I agree. I can't remember the last time I employed someone who came through the JobCentre, most are from web advertising or window advertising.
It's always hassel going through the JobCentre, they always seem to make it a difficult process. I have to say though that the quality of candidates coming through has gone up, but you always get the ones who want set hours and days, nothing less that 16 hours a week, totally inflexible, won't work weekends and bank holidays and are shocked when you give them the job description. Didn't you read the advertisement?!
You feel like saying b****r off and stop wasting my time, i'm trying to keep my business afloat!Just because I disagree with you, doesn't mean I hate you. We need to understand this as a Society

If you discussed your requirements with the Jobcentre they will look for the right candidates. To call people JC idiots is shocking. God help the poor sods coming to work for you with your attitude! Not everyone out of work is in that position cos they don't want to.0 -

Well point taken. It may have come out wrong.
I used to take JC candidates until about 3 months ago. I can honestly say 95% of them were rubbish. They were forced to be there.
Since I took control of shortlisting, I usually find my candidate within the first few interviews, not all are like that I for one would love to have job but I'm either over qualified(packing cardboard box's) or don't have enough qualifications in my line of work.and maybe to old although they are not admitting it.
I've only got 7 years to retirement.
Well all I'll say is that, in my experience (I employ 120 FT people and have 400 PT on my books) you are in the minority.
Most of who I interview from the JC are only there because they have to be, not because they want the job I offer.

Thats my point!
I did discuss my requirements.
It made no difference!
The whole point of using the JC is to remove some of the shortlisting time, plus the time and cost of advertising the vacancy.
95% of the people they sent did not even meet the minumum person spec!

Why do you think so many car washes have popped up with foreign workers ? Mainly as the Govt gives the employers money for taking them on and also tax incentives.Very clever of the Govt considering SOCA said a large amount of car washes are involved in large scale money laundering.0

Because some "home grown" workers don't like to do hard work, over long hours, in hot/cold settings, smiling all day for NMW?
