Sky BB usage issue
Comments

I too have had the email warning that I am over my allowance and have just had another saying that I have used 70%, with 22 days to go. I've never had this problem before and have been with them for two years. It seems that it must be a problem with the new usage tool but what can we do? Has anybody been able to get Sky to back down on this issue yet?
I am in exact same situation as your self and several other posters got the email from sky phoned them they got me to make sure was not being "piggybacked".Have checked daily my usage and with 22 days to go I am at over 61%.
Was told by Sky that 2gb's is a massive amount - I am on computer daily have never downloaded music/photos etc -wouldn't know how to
.Don't think there is much anyone can do and will be paying the £5 a month fee from next month unfortunately by looks of it:( 0 -
Yes there's something definately going on with Sky; same position where I was on their 2gb allowance for almost 2 years with no issues and no change in internet usage habits, then in Feb this year, started getting 70% usage reminders, only 2 days into my "allowance" have fought tooth and nail too get them to back down, and it worked for 2 months, but then they put me up to the £5.00 package automatically and this month, (without telling me) i'm now on the £10.00 package  Only found out when I checked my account package! Any way we can fight Sky on this? BBC Watchdog perhaps ? Martin's investigations?0

I'm now on the £10 a month package (not for much longer as I am leaving them as soon as I decide who next)
My gripe is that they are charging me for a service I cannot use due to my location to the exchange, I will never get above a very low speed, hence going for the smaller package, yet they are charging me for a service I cannot use in full.Saving and spending in equal measure0 -
Sky have three broadband packages.
Sky Connect 10Mb/40gb cap(rebadged BT IPstream) @ £17/month
Awful best avoided.
Everyday 20Mb/2Gb cap, Free with Sky Talk otherwise £ 5/month
Unlimited 20mb, £10 with Skytalk otherwise £12.50/month, or £15/month if no Sky subscription.
The 2Gb cap is very restrictive, viewing a couple of programmes on the iplayer will blow your monthly limit. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

The torrents will use huge amounts of data, obviously if Sky catch you doing this they will disconnect your internet as downloading torrents is illegal.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0 -

Downloading Torrents is not illegal.
It's the content that most people download that is illegal. But a torrent itself is not illegal, it can be used for legitimate file sharing.Saving and spending in equal measure0
