I was gonna try the old 'im cancelling' lark but didn't want to take a gamble in case they did cancel! £50 for every channel, free off peak calls and internet is not too bad really is it? Lets be honest freeview doesn't compare. If I didn't have Sky i'd spend more nights bored and go to the pub more which would cost alot more than Sky!

People knock it but you can always find something on there. I don't like the company but they are the best there is at the moment.

Well I'm still having problems with this lot.

I've emailed the CEO twice now and keep getting the same **** ringing me up, all to no avail.

He tells me that the matter can't be escalated further than him and
he's got all the power and I can't speak to anyone higher than him!!!

Does anyone know if there's such a thing as an Ombudsman for digital tv, or similar? Where would I go now?

So what do you actually need the Ombudsman for? Are you saying they wont accept your cancellation? Only reason they would do that is if you were still inside your 12 month contract.

Sky are offering 25% off of your bill for the next six months if you want to 'leave'.

Not a bad saving if you are not actually wanting to cancel...

    Hi Ironman

How do you get this then? I can't get them to accept my cancellation or to offer my anything to stay and no I'm not still within my contract. They just keep me talking on the phone making small talk, and by the end of the conversation I'm still not cacelled!

Just cancel by letter, they cannot talk you in to or out of anything then, send it recorded delivery.

Hmm, I think what you need is assertiveness training, not the ombudsman...
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I'd add to the letter "The Direct Debit instruction has been cancelled WEF __/__/2010 & I shall not be liable for any payments after the 30day notice period."

I didn't want to cancel, I originally phoned about HD and was a bit annoyed that they are charging £80 for box and installation, so I told them I am struggling with the bill. I actually told them 'I'm not after a deal or joining Virgin, I am just struggling with the bill'. That made the Sky woman a bit sympathetic. She said they are offering 25 per cent for the next six months although you have to sign up for another 12 months altogether (I'll phone again in 6 months).

To be fair £35 for every channel, Sky Talk and broadband is worth it.

I'd be lost without SKY+ now. We've only had it for just over a year and I think it's worth every penny. We also have SKYTALK unlimited and my bill for both never comes to more than £29.00 per month. Don't have every single package but have no desire for Sport or Movies but think what we do get is great value for money. Can't understand why so many people have such a great dislike for SKY. I've always had excellant help from them.
