Fined for holiday in school time

Could they interact with their peers whilst on holiday?
No.
Therefore it is different and something they would be missing out on.
Why couldn't they interact with their peers, do you really think they will be the only child of their age group, in the hotel, restaurant, parks, flights, airport etc? So of course they will interact with their peers.Turn £100 into £10,000 in 2010 member # 247

I must be missing something here because the majority of kids I see at airports, flights etc are glued to their nintendos or other computer games. They are certainly not "interacting" with other kids.0 -

I was using the word "peers" in this sense to indicate their classmates and others at the school.
So - no they couldn't interact with this particular peer group while on holidayWe all evolve - get on with it0 -
IMO no. I parents choose to given the LEA the job of educating their children then they have to stick to the rules imposed. If they don't like it they can always choose to educate at home where they can take holidays whenever they like. As usual there are always people that want to hand over the responsibility of their children when it suits and then cry "but they're my children!" when it's convenient.PolishBigSpender wrote: »Shouldn't it be the parents that authorise any absence of THEIR children?0 -
i'm amused you're still dragging this over and over. i havent actually said i dont get it, i have simply said i for one am bored of hearing about the dreadful life teachers have to live! there are clearly many others that feel the same. i'll repeat my point again in case you didnt understand it the first timeYet it still does not sink in!
every time a thread is started relating to schools or teachers, it eventually gets taken over by teachers telling us what a hard life they have.
just like this thread...
all you've done is prove my point rather than actually put one of your own across! :rotfl:Mummy to

I have a couple of friends who are teachers actually so i do BUT i still do not agree that my dd going away for a few days ruins hers or anyone elses future careers. I'm a c/m so look after children too and have a big workload but get to choose when i can and can't go away which is why i would hate to be a teacher!0 -
Meant to add, is the general gist of this whole thread along the lines of:
If you are a teacher with kids or you don't allow your kids on holiday during school term they will be so much better off than others. I still know people who i went to school with who never got to go away as they have teachers as parents and tbh it has no pattern at all.
And if you choose to go in the holidays your children will suffer? and probably the rest of the class..?! I don't agree at all..if you want to learn you will and no trips away will matter to much. What about the week away my dd had not so long ago and the one she is having next May courtesy of the school..is that a different type of educational trip that we can't arrange for her when we go away?0 -
Can someone please explain to me the educational value of riding a rollercoaster?
Maybe the reason we have so many demotivated, selfish, clueless and zombie-like children in this country is because their parents see taking three weeks off school as reasonable. How, please explain, can you teach a child of any age that comittment and dedication are important when you take them out of their scedule, because you feel like it?Foreign politicians often zing stereotypical tunes, mayday, mayday, Venezuela, neck
