Because it is entirely peoples choice to do so, and there are far more important things in life than having a perfectly clean house?I can't understand it either. Why do people spend so much money on nice furniture just to let their dog sprawl all over it and leave it a dirty mess.
I have always found that there is a lot less cleaning if the dogs sleep on their own beds which can then be popped into the washing machine easily.
As for lines of dirt around the house, they get their from the dogs constantly walking past and a noticable line takes a few weeks to show up. Hence, if you can see the dirty line, you aren't cleaning enough.
I wouldn't fancy trying to fit a Great Dane bed in my washing machine

I can't imagine trying to cope with carpets! I wash our rugs daily...those of you who cope have mt ful admiration! We leave vet beds over the non washable rugs when the dogs come in rooms generally.
As for furniture and beds. Yes, mine do....with permission...not when they want too but when invited. We have throws over the furniturebeds. Like the poster with great danes, our dogs' beds are large (they do just fit in a machine) but we layer them with vet bedsblankets too, which dry more quickly and prolonge the use of the bed between washes, and I think, being in piles, is warmer and more comfortable.
The dogs only go on top of our beds on invitiation, but the cats go whereeverwhen ever they please, and also come underneath the covers. Our bedding is washed twice a week...its a balance between keeping things fresh and nice and notbeing too...nuts about it. For me, our solid floors and a just damp mop dealing with it at the time is much easier & quicker than what we find to be reasonable alternatives...I dare say lay out of house, the nature of the dogs and people is also really relevant!
Leather sofas should be uite easy to clean: not so different to leather tack on horses I would have thought, better than upholstered I guess....which is what we have.0 -

Any name for the sealant where can I get it from and can I do it myself?
To be honest I get so desperate sometimes looking at that floor that white nail polish springs to mind.....LOL
6:49am, just put the curtains up.....yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
I have found out what to do at last! You need to scrape out the old grout with either a hacksaw blade or a grout scraper. Then you would need to re-grount the tiles. Once its dry use a sealant like "SureSeal" over it to keep it white.
You can do all this yourself. Getting out the old grout would be time consuming and fiddly. Grouting is straight forward, look on youtube to see people grouting if you have never done it or seen someone do this before.0 -
Wine of the World - thanks for that.
The hallway is not bery big really, just narrow and long - I thought to just scrape off the top of the old graut, put new one on top and then seal?
Looks like I have to remove all of the old graut?
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu - will try after New Year , thanks again

Besides, you know how much I spent on my sofa because?
I doubt it.
What you do with your sofa is obviously fine. I'm just trying to understand. To me, that sofa looks disgusting. What do guests think?0 -
I doubt it.

PM me, lets compare

My sofas get cleaned once a week at least, so yes they may on occassion get muddy but if anyone who comes to my home has a problem with a little bit of dog debris then it is their choice.
Leather sofas clean soooo easily.
I own 2 of one of the largest dog breeds there is, there is no way you can avoid some mess.2 angels in heaven :A0 -
Lisa - but yours are ladies..... they are supposed to go to the bathroom and wash their own paws
