All I know is that it can't possibly be on listing fees, and my cashback is coming through fine.
Not at 60% granted, but still fine.
Well, I am pretty sure it is not on FVF, and both Quidco and TCB confirm that (more or less).
I rather did not expect that someone will be able to solve the problem here, I just wanted to share the problem with others, to let you all know that such problems exist (perhaps you would then discover similar in your cases), that not all is fair, and to see how it is in your cases.0 -
You need to understand how these companies get their money from ebay to then understand how they pass it on to you... https://publisher.ebaypartnernetwork.com/files/hub/en-US/aboutEbay.html
The exact algorithm that is used to calculate payments is not revealed, but basically affiliates are paid per click going into ebay. The value of that click depends on the "quality" of visitor - do they just browse, or do they buy an item close to when they clicked through, how many times do they come back in 7 days and 30 days, do they pay with paypal, do they click on any sponsored links etc.
The reports that affiliates get to see that makes up their daily click score shows headers such as new users signed up, new users who are active, how many bids/bins were placed, what value of merchandise was bought, what the ebay revenue was from those sales and so on.
A good quality affiliate may earn about 15-20p per click, and an affiliate who just puts an ebay banner on their blog may only get 1p per click.
Up until October this year, affilaites were simply paid a flat share of the FVF, the level of which depended on the volume of sales they pushed into ebay, so the top affilaites earned up to 65% of the final value fee as a commission, and about £35 for every new user who signed up. This is how the cashback sites have been able to offer decent returns on the revenue share.
Now try to back-calculate this new method of commission and how you get your 40% of FVF as a cashback...<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
Was going to make a new thread but here seems appropriate. Even though the exact formula isn't exactly known and these transactions apply to Quidco eBay which was and is 60% at the time.

eBay.co.uk56.602.10tracked2009eBay.co.uk7.990.26tracked
Now, in my head I've always calculated them roughly at 60% of FVF, just FVF nothing else. Now without even calculating I'm happy with everything above, except this one
2009eBay.co.uk95.001.50tracked
Quidco states eBay revenue is taken from not only FVF but other charges as well. This sale is classified under "technology" which would make it
5.25% of the initial £29.99 (£1.57) + 3% of the remaining balance of the final selling price
So that would make eBay revenue on FVf alone at £1.57 + (3% of £65.01) £1.95 = £3.52
60% of 3.52 = £2.11
That's not including any other revenue from listing/pictures etc.. I never personalyl take those into account as mentioned before. It's a private seller, not a power seller or anyone else with any special discounts and there was no special offer the day of listing. So, I know it's only 61p difference but it all adds up when you're talking cash back.
Should I put in a claim? Should I bother checking any other cashback from eBay? Is there something I'm missing? It just stands out because it's in similar categories to cashback from other purchases that were for less and yet paid more cashback.0
