Unless the child isn't eating a balanced diet or has other health problems, there is no need to use formula at this stage. Speak to your health visitor and any breastfeeding support group and they should tell you the same thing.
Follow-on milk is a swizz.
Its true they are a swizz!
I use the 6 month plus stuff because you can get boots points on it and they can have money off promotions on them. If it wasn't for that she would have stayed on the infant stuff. Once she is one she will go on to cows milk, its easier to just pour it from the bottle and its cheaper.
My hv told me that there is more iron in it, but it is mostly in a form that isn't as easy for the baby to absorb as the iron in breast milk so most of it isn't absorbed anyway. In my opinion its probably better to give babies high iron food with a drink of orange juice.0 -
Hi guys
Just to give you an update. I still breast feed. My son loves me as his dummy far too much. Figured out the issue wasnt really the type of milk he didnt like, more the feeding cup thing it was in. If I put any liquid in a cup he would drink it, if I put it in the beaker he wasnt really interested in it.The idea of using formula was just to give me abit of a break and also to help him get used to the fact mummy cant be his dummy ALL THE TIME!But-there isnt much I can do about that. I'm his dummy at night, sometimes during the day but I guess thats what mums for. Anyway-all I'm doing at the moment is expressibg enough milk to make his cereal during the day ad keeping his ususl breastfeeding feeds.I'll see how it goes and take each day as it comes.:rotfl:0
