Katiesmummy - SC are on offer at argos at the mo, how did your muffins go
they came out really well- on about the 4th attempt!! worked out that part of the reason they weren't rising properly was because i was putting them on a flat baking tray. one trip to asda for a muffin tin and hey presto...perfect muffins! even on the days he's not staying over bf has been coming over on his way home from work to see what i've been making
re the sc- had a quick look on the argos website and they have a big cookworks one for £14.99- does anyone have any experience of cookworks? would it be worth spending a bit more to get a decent one2011- new year, new start.

Good afternoon chums Just got back from shopping and have been sorting out my freezer and cupboards .I know I won't need to go to the shops until at least the middle of January now as I have enough grub to keep me going. No more shopping for at least a month ,wonderful.I have done and wrapped all of my presents and sent all my cards a now I am just going to relax and enjoy the next few weeks.Tomorrow night I am out to dinner with my two DDs and my sis-in-law and two other friends as its my youngest DD's birthday on Saturday but we could only get a booking in the local restaraunt for Thursday. So no cooking tomorrow night, maybe a few vino collapsio's and maybe a medicinal G&T of course to celebrate. Try to snow here in North kent at the moment and its blooming freezing so I'm off to put the heating on for a warm up.
Enjoy whats left of your day ladies and Happy Birthday to all celebrating, my DGS Ben is 14 today, especially Nelski as she is my 'adopted DD' in the north bless her

:hello:Hi there everyone.
I'm relatively new and been browsing OS recently, I'm quite addicted! It's amazing some of the tips I've been picking up.
So I thought I'd pop in here and say hi, I love friendly threads like this.
At the moment I'm counting down the days I have left at work, I'm off for a week from the 22nd and can't wait as my boyfriend is off too, we haven't had a day for just the two of us for ages as he works early morning shifts and his days off are Tuesday and Wednesday and I work Mon-Fri. He works as a Sainsbury's online shopper and tells me he secretly cheers every time a customer buys basics! He's starting to love a bargain as much as I do!
I've also been looking at the SC deals at Argos at the moment (after being hooked on all the SC threads on this board!) and I'm quite tempted by the 3.5L Cookworks one for £11.09. I was also looking at the 2L Argos Value one for £9.79. As there's only 2 of us I'm not sure if I'll need 3.5L but I would like to do batch cooking - any suggestions on which I should go for?
I hope you all have a good day and don't freeze too much (I wish the snow would settle!).0 -
Afternoon all!
Work is over for almost 4 weeks!! :jMy work kids had their last day too and did a presentation today which went really well, but it was freezing as we were in our cabin in the park! They got me flowers and chocolate to say thanks :A
ivyleaf and H-Hester - thanks! I'm flying Emirates thankfully so now probs there fingers crossed.
lowesy - congratulations!!!!
I finished work at 3, nipped to shops to return some stuff. I also went to Boots cos on my Xmas do I dropped my eyeshadow and it crumbledit was my fav one so I wanted to get a replacement. There was none on shelf but the lady in Boots checked the drawers and found me one :j It was a £5 so I also bought a nail varnish so that I could get the 'free' gift of mascara, nail varnish and eyeshadow
plus 50 extra points.
WM is on, need to dry stuff to pack so will use TD for first time ever!
Have a good evening all

Afternoon all.
Deary me, I’m late again today!
Happy Birthday Heavenleigh and Nelski and also JackieO’s DGS
Happy Anniversary Tru and Mr Tru
Lowesy congratulations, mate. What a lovely Yule present for you!
Anniestar hope you’re OK.
Poorly sick WM has been made all better – a new compression seal was required; we just have to dry out the carpet tiles now.
Of course, I’m all at sixes and sevens, as I hadn’t expected Mr LW to be w*rking from home today; anyway, we’ll throw a Shepherd Spy together when he finished (17:30) and that’ll do for tomorrow’s dins as well.
I don’t know why it is, but I get all jittery when anything happens to upset what’s already been planned. I suppose it’s because everything needs to be planned with almost military precision, on account of this stupid lupus – I can’t even nip down the shops on my own these days.Still, there’s folks in the cemetery who’d be glad to have lupus – at least, that’s what my grandmother would have said.:o
Well, it’s nearly time for Mr LW to finish his w*rk, so I’d better get offline and head kitchenwards.
((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Evening all (sidles in, feeling very guilty:o)
I have been reading daily, but not posting. Nothing much OS happening here at all. I count myself lucky if I manage to get through the day at the mo!!!
Am loving being in the new cottage but the bank account has gone up the swanny..... By the time the utility companies closed off the old house account and set up the new one there was money coming in and out all over the place. I have never had gas before (no snide comments please:rotfl:) so they are basing my monthly DD on the previous occupants usage and will review in January - all £134 worth:eek: Plus, I now have two water companies to pay as my old company doesn't supply the sewerage part of the new property. Factor in the emergency repairs to get the garage watertight, the umpteen pounds to get freesat because freeview doesn't work in this area and the huge shopping bills because I can't get back into the swing of menu planning, freezer stocking and YS'ing and you'll get some idea of where I am at right now. Still, a new year beckons....
Lowesy - fabulous news. Take care of yourself
Diva - prayers for Tris....
Mr. Mrs. Tru - happy anniversary
Nelski - I'm with you on the fireman:rotfl:
Lamewolf - I had to smile at Shepherd Spy - we always have Slunch time in this house as in 'it slunch time' - sometime we have snake and pygmy pie or Kate and Sidney if parents are here for lunch!
Redruby - thinking of you going through your house move. We've been here six weeks now and are still unpacking/sorting out. It is sooooooo frustrating waiting for a moving date but you WILL get there.
School breaks up on Friday so will be able to start my Christmas preps this weekend. The tree is up but not much more done. Mr. Ex-lillibet has the children on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and I have our family Christmas on Boxing Day, but this year he's decided (without telling me) that he is taking the children to his house in France on Boxing Day (the house he's managed to buy on his 'low income so I can't pay her any more maintenance:rotfl:) Thankfully DD (who lives with me) has decided that she won't be going but it means that DS (who lives with dad) won't be with us for our family get-together. But hey ho......
Hugs to all those who would like one and my thoughts are with the rest of you!
Hoping to be a better poster in the new year.....
Lilli
