If I was you buyer and you made me wait 15 working days for a refund you would get a neg. Why make a buyer wait that long, I just don't think it's fair.

As a buyer I would wait because I know that Royal Mail standard post is a 15 day service. Royal Mail specify "estimated" delivery times but these don't mean anything in reality. It is a maximum 15 day service. If I have bought something using a 15 day service I'm not going to complain if it takes that long.
  • I have just had a dispute opened on me by a seller in italy who is claiming that they have not received an item.

I posted this item on the 8th Dec and was told it would take up to 5 working days to arrive, but to allow a bit extra due to christmas.

This was posted royal mail airmail and not tracked or signed for.

The value of the item was approx £40 so i figured that the insurance provided by RM of £39 would be sufficient.

I have responded to the dispute via paypal but am assuming that they will find in favour of the buyer due to other peoples posts.

My only gripe really is that it is only just over the 5 working days, plus the extra to allow for christmas, and he is very quick to open a dispute.

When I emailed him to let him know that I had posted the item he replied "did you not send airsure or signed for as if you havent then i probably wont receive it". All very strange.

My other question is regarding paypal taking funds from my account. Now originally he had paid his money into paypal and it was showing as being there, but I was unable to withdraw until 21 days unless a dispute had been raised.

Now this is showing as being removed, so say they find in favour of the buyer, will this amount simply dissapear from the page and therefore the buyer has his money back, or will that dissapear and then paypal will look to me for the same amount?

Try telling you buyer that the LAST international posting day to arrive for Christmas was 4th December. So on that basis RM are allowing 20 days. And as yours left on the 8th by that rule it will not arrive for Christmas.
If you are lucky they will accept it.

Paypal and ebay are just putting all this hassle on sellers because UK law says it is the sellers responsibility to get an item to a buyer. But where does it say how long it should take. They are taking the cowards route to placate people who got burnt by dishonest sellers.

As honest hard working sellers who post fast we deserve to be cut some slack and to read time and again on here from sellers who happily neg a seller who makes them open a dispute is very disheartening.

Those sellers go on and on about recorded being the way forward and yet we hear over and over how recorded is full of flaws and Paypal don't even wait for an item to show online as delivered before refunding.

I often find my parcels in my porch because the area is considered safe but many are recorded and clearly I did'nt sign and that leaves the poor seller open to me openning a dispute.

I always wait too. Because I am a seller too and know how difficult it is for sellers and how rubbish RM can be.
  • I am not making you wait razorbladekisses - I despatch within 24 hours of payment. Your chosen payment method of royal mail second class is making you wait!

How can you give negative feedback to someone who has despatched by within 24 hours, it is not the buyer's fault royal mail has this policy. if the buyer wants to be sure they should pay extra for recorded delivery

Fair enough you dispatch your items quickly but I'm disagreeing with making a buyer wait so long for a refund.

I'd leave negative feedback because you made me wait so long for my money back. My contract is with you. It's you that has the contract with the Royal Mail. Refund the buyer then claim from RM yourself after 15 working days.

Recorded delivery is unlike to help.

I agree UK law says the contract is between a seller and a buyer. But can you show me where in that contact it says it must arrive within a certain time frame. i.e faster than even the person contracted to deliver it can deliver it.
